Lebanon's economy ministry says it has asked the country's security agency to ban the 2017 Wonder Woman movie because its lead actress, Gal Gadot, is an Israeli.

A senior security official says no formal request has been received yet, and that the ban would require a recommendation from a six-ministry-member committee.

[...] Lebanon is officially at war with Israel and has a decades-old law that boycotts Israeli products and bars Lebanese citizens from traveling or having contacts with Israelis.

Supporters of the boycott took to social media to campaign against the movie.

@TimesofIsrael Please don't watch the movie wonder woman, boycott.

Eh, I'll probably go see it. I can only rewatch so many episodes of Xena:WP and the animated Justice League (plus Unlimited) to get my Amazon women fix.

Question though. Since the OMG Moooooslims! have decided that this movie is evil, does this mean that I'm going to be sitting in the theater with a bunch of alt-righters mixed in with a bunch of radfems? That could get weird quick. I think I'll just make sure to arrive early so I can grab a seat with quick access to the exit. Gotta make sure I'm in full infiltrator mode too.

Tthe DCCU doesn't seem to be off to a very good start. Man of Steel was interesting, but the plot of BvS just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I'm also not sure about Jared Leto's Joker, for the whole 5 minutes we got to see him. He seems to be channeling Caesar Romero and mixing in too much Jack Nicholson. This movie is probably going to be make-or-break for me, because if Superman is angsty, Batman isn't a detective, Wonder Woman isn't… whatever problem this movie will have, I mean, how much hope can I hold out for The Flash, Cyborg, or Aquaman?

I dunno, I think the series on CW are doing a lot better job than the DCCU right now. I admit I've only watched The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow for the crossovers with Supergirl, but Supergirl gets us the eponymous Kryptonian, Superman, other baddies from Krypton, baddies from Daxam along with sexy Mon-El, Guardian, Martian Manhunter, Livewire, Brainiac-8, who else? Silver Banshee for 1 episode. At any rate, a whole bunch.

I did not get into Smallville so I can't make any comparisons there other than noting that Smallville's Supergirl plays Brainiac-8 in the CW-verse iirc. Also might as well note that Lynda Carter, TV's original Wonder Woman, has a cameo in the CW's Supergirl as well. Not as Wonder Woman, though.

I tried to watch Gotham, but I just couldn't. It just didn't capture my interest.

Marvel is destroying DC on the big screen, and arguably does better with TV and Netflix [wikipedia.org]. If they can pull off The Defenders and The Punisher this year, then DC is toast.

This list [wikipedia.org] includes X-Men stuff and the trippy Legion [wikipedia.org] show on FX. And what is this [wikipedia.org]?
