Lebanon's economy ministry says it has asked the country's security agency to ban the 2017 Wonder Woman movie because its lead actress, Gal Gadot, is an Israeli.
A senior security official says no formal request has been received yet, and that the ban would require a recommendation from a six-ministry-member committee.
[...] Lebanon is officially at war with Israel and has a decades-old law that boycotts Israeli products and bars Lebanese citizens from traveling or having contacts with Israelis.
Supporters of the boycott took to social media to campaign against the movie.

A bit under 3/4 serve in any form. You can argue the definitions for quite awhile. All females have the option of what boils down to a peace corps activity in place of military service. On a regular basis the army cleanses itself and flushes the bottom fraction of female soldiers into the peace corps thingy by manipulating medical profiles. Israel is also extremely racist and some races are required to serve, some are forbidden, and some are volunteer only, so what a kid ends up doing practically depends on a DNA test result now a days.
WRT the whole "fat american" meme the Israelis don't have the "every man a special forces operator" thing that the Americans believe in, so fat people end up in support positions in the military or in semi-civilian service programs. Likewise disabilities, if you're blind in one eye or diabetic or missing a limb they'll find something for you to do in the military thats conducive to your disability whereas the USA would automatically chapter you out. Their combat troops are pretty healthy but you'll have mentally disabled soldiers sweeping floors or fat dudes as logistics warehouse personnel or whatever.
Israel has come up in discussions about a proposed American draft because the only country as confusing and complicated as the US is Israel and their situation is very expensive and complicated implying setting up national service in the USA would not be to save money, to say the least.
In general it would probably be a net lower cost to society as a system for both Israel and the USA to go full volunteer. However Israel has conscription as a tradition so they kinda play act it, and the USA has continual demands for some kind of service program.
My gut level guess is a large component of fixing the USA student loan mess will be some kind of national service / conscription thing in exchange for the whole govt backed student loan thing. For political reasons we can't reboot the CCC no matter how much we need it, but we can shove a square-ish peg in a round-ish hole and force the peace corps to emulate something like the old CCC.
An interesting thing to think about WRT too many people and not enough jobs, and the infantilization of adults, we're probably going to have some kind of conscription for national service from 18-22 to reduce the labor force by about 10% (and therefore drop un and under employment) and it'll be interesting to see how that works out with respect to the collapse of higher ed when the .gov gets tired of funding it. We just don't have enough jobs anymore for adulthood to begin at 18 and I can totally see it being boosted to 22 with some form of national service.
From extensive observation of college students both as a traditional one and then as a night school student, your average 19 year old should be in basic training not getting drunk and stupid at a university. Education is wasted on the youth. A kid in their 20s taking a class will get about 100x as much out of it as a 19 year old kid. Some of the Freshmen I met were ridiculously juvenile from my ancient perspective at the time of 25. I couldn't even date the girls longer than one night at a time, just too inexperienced with life.
