Armed police respond to serious incidents at London Bridge and Borough Market – with members of the public urged to reach areas of safety.
Since late yesterday evening [Saturday, 3 June], the Metropolitan Police Service has been responding to incidents in the London Bridge and Borough Market areas of south London. We are treating this as a terrorist incident and a full investigation is already underway, led by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

Three male suspects have been shot dead by police.
Canisters seen around the body of at least one of the suspects have been “established to be hoaxes”, police said.
Police believe all of those directly responsible for the attack have been killed.[...] Since March there has been the Westminster attack by Khalid Masood, who mowed down pedestrians near parliament and stabbed a policeman, resulting in six deaths, including his own: and the Manchester bombing two weeks ago that killed 22. And now London again.

An investigation into the foreign funding of extremist Islamist groups may never be published, the Home Office has admitted.
The inquiry commissioned by David Cameron, was launched as part of a deal with the Liberal Democrats in December 2015, in exchange for the party supporting the extension of British airstrikes against Isis into Syria.
But although it was due to be published in the spring of 2016, it has not been completed and may never be made public due to its "sensitive" contents.
It is thought to focus on Saudi Arabia, which the UK recently approved £3.5bn worth of arms export licences to.

Remind us again, for those who haven't been watching, which party is receptive of a Manhattan/Apollo scale project to eliminate our reliance on fossil fuels? Which party stokes the fires of coal? Which party wants more leaky oil pipelines?
The Republican Party is a terrorist organization working on behalf of a few thousand wealthy individuals and they are destroying our future for short-term profits. If you enable them because of orthogonal social issues then you are also to blame.

Democrats or Republican.... the system "owns" both, and trot them out before us each election to give us the illusion we have a choice.
Another reason is to get us into blaming ourselves for placing the wrong one into power.
They are very artful in inciting fractures in the populace concerning things like abortion or gay rights, while they deal with much bigger things behind our back. How many of US got to vote on the DMCA, for instance? Nah, we get to bicker over who gets to use which toilet.
This game is rigged. No matter what we do, its our fault.
This whole mess is a result of one thing. Organization. Most of us rank-and-file working sheep-to-be-sheared are too busy with the day-to-day matters of life to concern ourselves much with politics. Whereas for the elite, politics *is* their job, and they are highly organized. About the most organization I have seen amongst the common people are churches. Churches are hardly organized for politics... they seem mostly concerned with collecting sheep who will line up for a shearing. While the government reciprocates by allowing them tax-free status to keep the populace praying for God to do it instead of taking matters into their own hands.
The elite also have the power ( that we let them have by not standing up to them when they started doing it ) to spend money they don't have by allowing the government to borrow money ( aka "extend the debt ceiling ) to pay for armed people to enforce their wishlist. Have this deemed "lawful" if the government does this to the populace, yet deemed "treason" if the populace does it.

Coal is dying due to economics, not politics. Trump can fellatiate the coal miners all he wants, but that is a dying industry. There is nothing Trump can do to bring back coal mining jobs, unless he decides the feds will buy coal at $x per ton. Which will never fly past congress.

Trumps gift to the coal industry isn't about the miners' jobs.
Its about enriching the owners. The republicans are propping up the profitability of coal and thus extending its lifetime.
The fact that they sell their policies to the poorly educated proles with lies about jobs does not mean they aren't extending our reliance on coal.

The economics change when you restrict mining (can't disturb a stream), restrict coal plants (in trouble for emissions), and demand the purchase of "green" power. That sounds an awful lot like politics to me. Ditch that shit, and suddenly the economics are looking good again.
No, it won't be miner employment like the 1950s, but many miners are already gone anyway. Those who remain are getting employed again.
There are also the jobs elsewhere, even programming and IT jobs, enabled by cheaper electricity. The economy generally benefits from cheap energy.

Guys, the agenda is always split in two (or more) and each party gets its slice. Party getting to power pushes a mixture of the agenda and some other conflicting stuff, but removes the conflicting stuff of the previous government.
What I predict (I have no crystal ball, this is what I would do if I wanted to soft coup a country) is infiltration on both high ranking government and low ranking essential services positions (water, energy distribution, roads,communication). If the strategy works, Islam, if it fizzles it is because of some neo-right organization which will have no choice but to enforce the surveillance state that has been conveniently planned even before the crisis started. If the thesis and antithesis generate a synthesis, a new society banning all religious expression will be pushed on us, politically. Culturally this is already the case.
No matter what happens, the result is the end of the Christian-peppered pseudo-democracy that we enjoyed in the past, which probably ran its course, and did its share of damage BTW.
Way outs? Everything is about control. What you left the system control, will be used to further remove control from you. Focus on the amount of control you have and you miss, and don't care about politics and parties and flags.

Correcting market failures, overcoming coordination problems, and addressing tragedy of the commons scenarios is an appropriate role for government. How much money was necessary to accomplish this attack ? It sounds like it would not have required much money. It appears a vehicle, which may have been
stolen, and some sort of knives were used. It doesn't sound like a big-budget operation.

The thing an intelligent person ( not you, obviously ) may want to consider is what exactly MOTIVATES these people who do these awful things ? Are the UK and the US and their allies really innocent victims or is there more to the story. Perhaps some of these people are from countries which have been invaded by the US and its
allies. Invading countries and killing the people who live in those countries is not likely to make the people who live in the countries which were invaded feel friendly toward the invaders. I live in the US, and I can tell you that if some other country invaded the US and killed people I love, revenge would be a high priority for me.
