Cryptocurrencies, as a whole, now hold over $100 billion in market cap for the first time. While bitcoin (BTC) leads the pack at just over $46.6 billion, or 47.9 percent of all cryptocurrencies, the recent surge in these other coins has helped to push the total cap over the top.

Since the Bitfinex hack low on August 2, bitcoin has traded better than JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Tesla, Apple, Google and gold. One of the few stocks to match the frenetic pace of bitcoin has been Nvidia, which is up over 200 percent since July of last year.

[...] Although China, Japan and South Korea are trading at a ~$100-plus premium compared to the exchanges in the United States, most of the volume [on June 5th] has been driven by USD.

    Wait, what?

    Source: Bitcoin Magazine

I started with Linux in '93 by downloading install floppies from a local BBS based on usenet discussions long before linux journal existed or any of that, and I figured maybe this Linux thing was more than a flash in the pan when I could subscribe to an actual magazine. I remember I got my first issue and I was so surprised to see this "internet thing" transformed into physical presence that I showed it to my Dad. Dad this Linux stuff, its like real, you've seen the walnut creek cdroms I bought and now there's a paper and ink magazine, how about that maybe this Linux thing really will be a big deal. Then I got my first Linux sysadmin job a couple years later in '96 or '97 so this weird source code I read about on usenet in '91 or '92 or so was now paying my rent and groceries, OK then.

Now in 2017 I donno if a legacy media like a magazine or calling a web blog a magazine means much of anything, but in the oldest days of Linux having a magazine about it was like "holy cow that means its real"

calling a web blog a magazine

Wikipedia tells me they used to really have a printed magazine, but no longer.
