Yahoo Inc, long-standing "other search engine", will be acquired by Verizon for $4.5 billion.

Reports can be found on CNN, CNBC, and Fortune among many other sources.

Yahoo CEO Marissa Meyer will be walking away with $23 million.

    In her defense, Mayer owes her position at Yahoo to being one of the first few Google employees, and she remained near the top of the food chain for a reason. It's not like she didn't do real work, including some coding, in order to get to where she is today.

    She was a reasonable choice for CEO at Yahoo. It's quite possible her female-ness helped her get the job, but she was as qualified as any of the guys they might have considered.
