In a coordinated campaign across 14 states, the German police on Tuesday raided the homes of 36 people accused of hateful postings over social media, including threats, coercion and incitement to racism.

Most of the raids concerned politically motivated right-wing incitement, according to the Federal Criminal Police Office, whose officers conducted home searches and interrogations. But the raids also targeted two people accused of left-wing extremist content, as well as one person accused of making threats or harassment based on someone's sexual orientation.

"The still high incidence of punishable hate posting shows a need for police action," Holger Münch, president of the Federal Criminal Police Office, said in a statement. "Our free society must not allow a climate of fear, threat, criminal violence and violence either on the street or on the internet."

The raids come as Germans are debating the draft of a new social media law aimed at cracking down on hate speech, a measure that an array of experts said was unconstitutional at a parliamentary hearing on Monday.

The measure, championed by Justice Minister Heiko Maas for passage this month, would fine Facebook, Twitter and other outlets up to $53 million (50 million euros) if they failed to remove hate speech and other forms of illegal content.

The left ladies and gentlemen.

She matches up with our far-left-wing politicians pretty nicely. What else would you prefer I call her?

Given that what's called "the left" here in the US are mostly center-right corporatists, that sounds about right.

I was thinking of her "send us more refugees, we don't have enough chaos in the streets to declare martial law yet" policy that matches exactly with our far-left, but whatever.

      "Far Left" huh?

You mean like Mao? Trotsky? Yeah, those fucking commies like Bill Clinton and Barack Obama are just like those guys.

And don't even get me started on Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, Claire McCaskill and Jon Tester, just to name a few of those far-left crazies that are advocating for collectivism, forced mixed breeding programs, nationalization of all industries, disarming everyone and summary execution of dissidents. Please.

What you call the "left" in the US is are right wing corporatists who are almost as complicit in raping those they claim to represent as the right. They're certainly not leftists [wikipedia.org] in any recognizable way.

If and when these guys [wikipedia.org], can win even a *local* election, you can start talking about how "the left" has any political power and influence. At the moment (and since 1938, when they were founded), they have none in the US.

Neither of those dudes are Anti-Capitalist.

Like so many USAians with weak minds, you have allowed yourself to be convinced by TeeVee that there is a major gulf between The Donkeys and the GOP.
Hint: Every time the GOP has shifted Right for the last 4-plus decades, the Donkeys follow.
        Similar deal for Authoritarianism.

An actual Leftist--or someone who is the slightest bit informed--will point out that those 2 dudes are Neoliberals. [soylentnews.org]

The fact that there are Reactionaries who don't appreciate Slick Willie shows what badly-informed fools they are.
Bill Clinton's Five Major Achievements Were Longstanding GOP Objectives [googleusercontent.com] (orig) [truth-out.org]

        More Neoliberals.
Gawd, what does it take to make a Reactionary happy?

        Claire McCaskill

OMFG. Just what does it take to make a goddamned Reactionary happy?
        She's a Blue Dog. [google.com]
She votes WITH YOUR SIDE a bunch of the time.
Going by GOP's naming conventions, she would be a DINO (Democrat in name only).

        Richard Blumenthal and Jon Tester

        Mostly boring, run-of-the-mill Democrats.
Blumenthal voted for militarism that Obama vetoed. [ballotpedia.org]

        Elizabeth Warren

Well, you finally named someone who is an actual Progressive.
She's still isn't willing to cast aside Capitalism, however.
Not a word from her yet about the collective ownership of the means of production by the workers.
Not even Socialist, much less Communist.

Not a single person you named talks about changing the ownership model of Capitalism.
        You are a badly-informed fool.
Anyone who takes seriously anything that you say WRT governance is also a fool.

Switch off the Faux Noise. It's turning your brain into mush.

N.B. If you wanted to mention someone who actually stands out from the crowd, you might have mentioned Congresswoman Barbara Lee who represents Oakland, the only person to vote against Dubya's invasion of Iraq.

Bernie Sanders (who calls himself an Independent, though he caucuses with and generally votes along with the Donkeys) has talked, in passing, about worker ownership of their own businesses.
...and though he calls himself a "democratic socialist" (a redundant term), his rhetoric is vague and weak and he has said that he is opposed to the notion of gov't ownership of businesses (that being a characteristic of Communism).

In summary, your "commie" comment gets an F minus.

Yup. Because at best they're center-right, and not leftist (which is TMB's argument, not mine). Which was my whole point.

Even Elizabeth Warren is, at best, center-left.

You're splitting hairs and doing so incorrectly. When I speak of the far left in this context I am not talking about the mainstream leftists who run for most offices. Barbara Boxer and her ilk, sure, but most of those with a D by their name hold no ideology save that of their pocket, same as most of those with an R by their name.

No, in fact I'm speaking of those who champion LGBTOMGWTFBBQ rights with one side of their mouth and in the same breath champion a religion that inflicts the death penalty for being LGBTOMGWTFBBQ. I'm speaking of those who think riots and assault is the proper response to speech you disapprove of. I am very specifically speaking of those who are for open borders and welcoming of every refugee possible specifically because it will end up destroying the dominant culture of the nation it happens to. I'm speaking of the people acting exactly like rebellious teenagers and opposing everything their parents are for simply out of kneejerk reaction.

And who might these straw men be, Buzzard?

Let's have names, dates, places and verifiable quotes. You know, facts and evidence.

And dollars to donuts says that anyone you might actually come up with has exactly zero real power to effect *anything*. What's more, such people are likely considered crackpots and morons by just about everyone.

The people whom opportunistic hate peddlers like Limbaugh, Bannon, Gingrich, Jones and others demonize are not your enemy. The vast majority of us just want to have a decent life, a decent job and a reasonable sense that future generations will have that chance too.

Perhaps we disagree on the specifics of how to make that happen, but disagreeing on how to achieve shared goals is no reason to claim that those who disagree on a few topics are, in your words:

"those who think riots and assault is the proper response to speech you disapprove of. I am very specifically speaking of those who are for open borders and welcoming of every refugee possible specifically because it will end up destroying the dominant culture of the nation it happens to."

Oh, and it's poor form to end a sentence with a preposition. ;)

So let's have it. Verifiable names, dates, places actions and words. You know, facts -- which can be so annoying when they don't support the narrative you want to push.

You think those without uber political power can't effect change? If your words among others can cause a class of dipshit college students, women, hipsters, and the less intelligent minorities to dress up in black pajamas and run around pepper spraying people, assaulting with fists, assaulting with deadly weapons, burning their own neighborhood stores, and otherwise get people rioting in the streets, you have influence. Do please stop trying to change the playing field just because you're wrong.

You're kidding, right? Here's the list: every leftist who has preached "blah rights" when that group had equal protection under the law. Every leftist who has preached "they have more money than you and you should be pissed off" since ever. Everyone who preaches equality of outcome rather than equality of opportunity. No, I'm not going to spend my morning coffee time making up a specific list for you. If you think I might consider them qualifying in the above list, assume I do.
