Another day, another very fake news story from the network President Donald Trump has identified as "very fake news."
CNN's Thomas Frank on Thursday evening published what would have been considered an explosive report if remotely true: One anonymous source told him both the Treasury Department and Senate Intelligence Committee are probing a Russian investment fund with ties to several senior finance world leaders close to President Trump. Only problem? Both Trump administration officials and those close to Senate GOP leadership say it's simply untrue.
The retraction from CNN:
On June 22, 2017, CNN.com published a story connecting Anthony Scaramucci with investigations into the Russian Direct Investment Fund.
That story did not meet CNN's editorial standards and has been retracted. Links to the story have been disabled. CNN apologizes to Mr. Scaramucci.
According to BuzzFeed News, CNN has responded by actually requiring executives to review stories:
CNN is imposing strict new publishing restrictions for online articles involving Russia after the network deleted a story and then issued a retraction late Friday, according to an internal email obtained by BuzzFeed News.
The email went out at 11:21 a.m. on Saturday from Rich Barbieri, the CNNMoney executive editor, saying "No one should publish any content involving Russia without coming to me and Jason," a CNN vice president.
At least now we'll know who to blame.
[Ed Note: I debated leaving this in politics or dropping it to the main page. I opted for the latter because politics or not, the prevalence of "fake news" is one that we deal with on a daily basis from our respective social media feeds to all the major broadcast and cable news networks. How are we to tell what is "fake" and what is actually (relatively) "true"? The main stream media all put their spin on everything. A right slant for some, a left slant for others. Is the truth somewhere in between, or is it a story that we aren't getting becasue the mainstream media is so intent on telling their narrative that we the people are getting the shit end of the stick regardless of where we get the so called news?]

You say this, and yet look at all the angry (but very dashing and devastatingly handsome, in a not-at-all-cisnormative way) people showing up from the left to complain about how hard-right soylentnews is. This is what burst bubbles look like. For every Mighty Buzzard, there's an ikanreed. For every Ethanol_Fueled there's an Azuma Hazuki. For every khallow there's a turgid, and so on and so forth.
And for every gewg there's an anonymous coward.
Soylentnews is, in my view, doing its job surprisingly well. The fact that this makes people sad is a side-effect of their safe zones imploding.

^ there is an obvious bias from admins / editors that lets this bullshit in. TMB outright stated that he comments and submits stories specifically to troll people. So not only are the comments seeded by trolls who detract from decent discussions but the accepted stories are doing the same! The inflammatory comments that spin off into bullshit are tiresome. I have submitted stories that don't make it through, and with garbage from breitbart regularly making it in I can only surmise that it is due to partisan approvals.
While there are liberals around there has been a focused effort to drive them away and steer the discussions. A while back garbage posts were regularly downmodded, but conservatives were hurt in their feelz because so many of their beliefs belong in the 20th century at best. Liberal garbage would also get downmodded, but according to the poor babies who don't like criticism and rational thinking that is "fake news."
Conservative types here are just riding a circle jerk wave, once people get bored or turned off by the alt-right shading then you can have one big circle jerk where you pile on the one or two liberal types that poke their heads out.
Sad.

I disagree. While I'm not a communist, I lean a bit further left than the BernMeister General.
I speak my mind here and, while I do end up arguing with the rightys, it's usually (well, except for Runaway, but he's a special case) pretty respectful even though we disagree pretty strongly.
On occasion I've had folks mod me down rather than respond rationally to arguments which include those nasty things we call "facts" and "evidence," but that's been the exception rather than the rule.
In the end, if you're too thin-skinned to back up your rhetoric with argument and facts, then you probably should just lurk. Regardless, please post whatever you want, whenever you want -- because that's what freedom of expression is about.

You know, the hard-right seems rather flacid here, kind of "limp-dick" "OMG Sharia Law" cowards with no real manhood to speak of. The share this with the cultural Turks, who cannot control themselves if a woman has hair exposed. Guess that is why they were so afraid of Hilary. But in general, men who cannot get it up when need be. Failures. Did you see that post where Eth confessed that he needed boner pills, and Obamacare refused to pay for them, and he was sent to psycho-counselling? Same thing happened to Runaway, although it involved "bestiality", which is, after all, a crime against Nature in Arkansas.
