A source with knowledge of the planned downsizing told TechCrunch that [Microsoft] would lay off "thousands" of staff across the world. The restructuring is set to include an organizational merger that involves its enterprise customer unit and one or more of its SME-focused divisions. The changes are set to be announced this coming week, we understand.

Microsoft declined to comment.

[...] Bloomberg said the redundancies would be "some of the most significant in the sales force in years."

[...] Last year, Microsoft announced that it would cut 2,850 jobs — including at least 900 from its sales group, according to The Seattle Times — having two months earlier said it would let go of 1,850 staff related to its smartphone business. In July 2015, it made 7,800 job cuts and wrote down $7.6 billion of its Nokia acquisition.

Agreed, but it's a terrible choice to have to make! Not that there really is any choice. We can choose not to use their products, but their influence over the wider populace remains.

Oligopolies and monopolies usually suck. Always have and always will. Anti-trust laws should be more heavily enforced.

... and, as you point out, it usually sucks!

What does it mean to enforce "anti-trust laws" on government? Well, it means that society should implement a true separation of powers: Competition in the market; "law" created by contracts between individuals, not vote-grabbing legislators; contract-enforcers ("police" and "courts", etc.) competing just like any other service provider has to compete.

        Government is a Monopoly

Government, properly done, is a democracy.

In a democracy, the majority rules.
If the majority isn't getting what it wants and a minority is, what you have clearly isn't a democracy.

So, why do you keep voting for Democrats or Republicans?
        ...or not voting at all?

...and why aren't you showing up at town halls done by your Congresscritters and holding them to account?
...and if your Congresscritters aren't holding those, why aren't you holding your own with a seat with the Congresscritter's name on it (which will be empty if he doesn't show)?

You problem appears to be that you think government is a spectator event.
