Netflix Inc is in "active discussions" with Walt Disney Co about keeping Marvel and "Star Wars" films after 2019, when new Disney and Pixar movies will stop appearing on the streaming service, a senior executive said late on Thursday.

Disney announced on Tuesday that it was pulling new Disney and Pixar films from Netflix, starting with new releases in 2019. It will start putting the movies on a new Disney-branded online service that year.

Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger told analysts the company had not yet decided where it would distribute superhero films from Marvel Studios and movies from "Star Wars" producer Lucasfilm, which the company owns, at that time.

Netflix is still in discussions with Disney about retaining rights to stream Marvel and Lucasfilm releases after 2019, Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos told Reuters.

Disney missed the boat with my kids. They so zealously kept their movies and tv off netflix that mentions of mickey mouse, donald duck, and goofy get shrugs at best. they dont bug me for merchandise, they don't bug us to take them to disneyland. they don't really bug us for any branded merch, in fact, and like to build their own stuff. for rides, they've already been to the rollercoaster capital of the world, cedar point.

From here they go on to teen years and disney will never get them then. which means they won't bother to pass it on to their kids. this is how franchises die. when you choose to hold your stuff apart from the culture, you stop being part of the culture.

One of my concerns however has been what would happen if Scientology and Disney were ever to synergize.

The combination of Disney's product marketing to kids, and Scientology's mental enslavement of adults. They could keep themselves going indefinitely if this came to pass.

People living in a cradle-to-grave fantasy.

Wait, we already have that. It's called monotheism.

Because polytheism is so much better?

Seriously, you polytheists just keep proselytizing on here, and it is getting old.
