Anybody who hoped the troubled Bioware game Mass Effect: Andromeda would get some more single-player content should probably sit down. The game developer chose to deliver bad news to fans on Saturday evening via its official blog, confirming that it would not create any more "single-player or in-game story content" for the game.

If you're anxious to see the game's loose plot threads receive any resolution, you'll have to turn to other means. The game's existing 1.1 patch, which went live nearly three weeks ago, marked the end of any single-player changes, updates, or patches. Multiplayer modes will receive more "story-based APEX missions," Bioware says, and other stories, including those of the fate of the quarian ark, will be shuffled into "our upcoming comics and novels."

This confirms a DLC cancellation rumor dug up by Kotaku back in June. According to Kotaku's sources, EA had already bailed on plans for either add-on DLC or a full-fledged Andromeda 2 sequel after the game's lukewarm critical and commercial performance.

    Yes, I am ashamed for paying for this game (and playing it for like 5 hrs). The mass effect brand was ruined, it is like they had no understanding of what made the trilogy great.

    uh i am totally lost with the sjw comment.

    i am guessing it was a person making a joke that the generally single focused wealth creation of the white conservative educated elite MBA nature of those in charge of development studios actually do not play the games that their shareholders demand value from, and thus have no concept because Cloud Advertisements. filthy young people with depressing ideologies do that, and they are the ones buying this crap, so whatever. Just increase profits because those hookers and coke don't pay for themselves.

    Local/single player/already bought content=bad/Monetized Personal Advertracking Cloud=scripted exploitment profit which is good

      No, the SJW comment was accurate. Look at the people in creative charge of this game. Compare to Mass Effect 1. Look into the writers and their public comments on Twitter and the like. While SJWs want to control gaming, they are just infiltrators. They don't actually play games. So they demand companies betray their real audience. What the MBAs are finally realizing is that there is no actual replacement audience. Bending to the will of fanatics doesn't actually pay.

          As a vapid anti-SJW gamer, let me elaborate. ME:A was panned world over (/universally?) for character design and animation. This department was apparently headed by a diversity candidate (hired for being a woman). So the anti-SJW angle comes from there. On the other hand, there were discussions that the diversity candidate didn't have much to do with this. Take what you will, as I doubt anyone of us know the internal details of EA. The reviews were so bad that EA had to release ME 2 for free to entice players to get into the brand - a move that is epically out of character for a company like EA. I personally think that EA's acquisition of Bioware also spoiled many a gamers' taste. But since I am not a player of this brand, this is where my knowledge stops.

          ME:A featured a number of minority stereotypes who often were very vocal about being part of whichever minority. Personally, I don't really care, the percentage representation might even be accurate for all I know. It often did feel forced and tokenised though, and tended to break immersion. You're in an outpost threatened to be overwhelmed by hostile aliens, and this npc's priority is discussing her sex change... umm... okay. Look, I'm happy for you and all, but... umm... aliens? doomey death doom approaching?

          The Mass Effect trilogy, while also fairly open-minded, was a gritty space opera. As a player you made decisions which had severe ramifications in the game universe, and if you were paying attention, it *hurt*. ME3 in particular was dark in this way, and really did a highly competent job of making the horrors of war felt close to home. Of course, I'm a person who plays games for the story largely, so I let myself get swept up by these things. Other players might not even have noticed. And that's part of what made the trilogy so good.
