China, the world's biggest car market, plans to ban the production and sale of diesel and petrol cars and vans.

The country's vice minister of industry said it had started "relevant research" but that it had not yet decided when the ban would come into force. "Those measures will certainly bring profound changes for our car industry's development," Xin Guobin told Xinhua, China's official news agency China made 28 million cars last year, almost a third of the global total.

Both the UK and France have already announced plans to ban new diesel and petrol vehicles by 2040, as part of efforts to reduce pollution and carbon emissions.

Chinese-owned carmaker Volvo said in July that all its new car models would have an electric motor from 2019.

I'm sure someone will come up with a way, but I can't see how this fits in with the Chinese global warming hoax. I thought the idea was that *we* move away from gas and diesel and thereby destroy our economy. Waiting for an explanation! Rush?! Are you back home yet? Post as soon as you can.

Obviously, the Chinese are so commie-incompetent that they fell for their own hoax and will, as predictable for commies, destroy their own economy.
Either that, or they're try to appeal to silly California greenies.
Either that, or the government is tired of not being able to breathe 2 months a year, and is therefore going to take measures to engineer a fix for the problem domestically, despite how they will only take effect after the end of their mandate, or life.

Hard to tell... Three completely equivalent possibilities, really.

Or... maybe they are trying to create a better world for nothing [flickr.com]?

China bans don't seem to work the same as we are used to in "western" countries. I would guess the ban has little effect.

      Suuure thing that!
The same like like... umm... their "second child" policy, it had little effect as well, right?

I don't know much about it, but from this description I would say yea (its effects seem arbitrary and dubious):

Apparently it was designed to limit China's population to 700 million...

I've said all along, the concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive. And a big, big product we manufacture is gasoline. I want the U.S.A. to be refiner to the world. Including China. Especially China. For China to ship gasoline to us, it's very rare. Hardly any of those shipments. But the U.S.A. ships a lot, a lot of gas. You look at Houston, it's one of our biggest cities. And a lot, a lot of the #jobs are in refining. And pipelines. There's a tremendous number of jobs right now, fixing up all the refineries and the pipelines. Because of Harvey. The petroleum industry gives a terrific "boost" to our economy. It's a huge, huge part of our economy. Our manufacturing. If China cuts back on the gasoline, they won't be importing it from us. Very, very bad for our economy! 🇺🇸
