China, the world's biggest car market, plans to ban the production and sale of diesel and petrol cars and vans.

The country's vice minister of industry said it had started "relevant research" but that it had not yet decided when the ban would come into force. "Those measures will certainly bring profound changes for our car industry's development," Xin Guobin told Xinhua, China's official news agency China made 28 million cars last year, almost a third of the global total.

Both the UK and France have already announced plans to ban new diesel and petrol vehicles by 2040, as part of efforts to reduce pollution and carbon emissions.

Chinese-owned carmaker Volvo said in July that all its new car models would have an electric motor from 2019.

Ohh, OK. So we have some promises of hypothetical bans of diesel and gas cars 20+ years from now. Depending on how things work out and after we study the implications, and you know, whatever. But this is Serious Guys! We Totally Mean It! Super Serious!

Yeah. Whatever. Show us a fucking plan on infrastructure. Show us numbers. Show us that this is anything more than grandstanding by blowhards.

Are you trying to argue that China isn't building infrastructure?

Perhaps we should just write a blank check to a carbon exchange group so that the Church of SCIENCE! may protect us. In Gores name we pray, amen.

Sure carbon exchange is stupid, sure tons of corporations are using "green" to upsell bullshit. One of the craziest ones I saw was paying an extra $6/day for a rental car for C02 credits or something. Such bullshit.

That said, some asshole scammers are taking advantage of a trend do not invalidate the concept of reducing humanity's impact on the planet. Sorry that science has caused so many problems for all ye faithful, but can you please keep your "pastors" from branching out beyond religion? We don't need them trying to get their slimy finger into the realm of logic and reason.
