It's 2017. Why are there still Nazis?

It's a question many observers are asking after hundreds of white supremacists, many displaying swastikas and Confederate battle flags and shouting racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-communist slogans, took to the streets of Charlottesville, Va., this weekend, provoking violence that claimed the life of one counter-protester and resulted in multiple injuries.

The continued existence of people who hold openly white supremacist ideologies more than seven decades after the fall of the Third Reich can be explained, in part, through a social theory developed in the early 1990s. Social dominance theory seeks to explain how hierarchy-enhancing ideologies do not just drive social inequality, but are also a result of it. It suggests that a single personality trait, called social dominance orientation (SDO), strongly predicts a person's political and social views, from foreign policy and criminal justice to civil rights and the environment. What's more, it offers insight into how ideologies such as racism, sexism, and xenophobia tend to arise from the unequal distribution of a society's resources.

"Social dominance theory provides a yardstick for measuring social and political ideologies," says Felicia Pratto, who developed the theory with fellow psychologist Jim Sidanius. "SDO is one way – not the only one – to try to figure out what those ideologies are 'about.'"

You too can take the Social Dominance Orientation quiz to determine your nazi quotient.

Obviously, you haven't been properly indoctrinated.

"Groups at the bottom are just as deserving as groups at the top."

Every liberal knows the answer to that is "true". They have no idea WHY it's true, but they've learned to respond to the question positively. It's called brainwashing. Pavlov would have some insight into it.

Like yourself, I'm going to wonder, "Which groups? Why are they on the bottom? HOW did they get to the bottom? How long have they been on the bottom? Did they do something evil to be cast to the bottom?"

Of course, if you HAVE BEEN indoctrinated, and you answer "yes" without any thought - then you would have to support the KKK and all the skinhead groups, because they obviously aren't on top today. But, that isn't happening, because the left is just as full of hypocrites as the right ever was.

What if the question was "Should someone who works 40 hours a week have a reasonably comfortable life, being able to properly house, feed, clothe, and educate himself and his family and have enough left over for retirement?"

...and this would probably be a good place to mention that when the economy tanked previously and the Capitalists weren't hiring, FDR put 15 million USAians[1] to work building/rebuilding the infrastructure.

[1] ...when there were only 100 million USAians in total.

And what, Runaway, if I've asked myself those questions and mostly (though not entirely; bad decisions are bad decisions) come to the conclusion that the whole system is a racket, poor people are mainly created rather than create themselves, and useful idiots like you are worth your no doubt overgenerous weight in gold to the bastards that are dividing-and-conquering the working class? What then?

You want so, SO badly for the world to be just. So badly, in fact, that you will insist it IS just, despite the horrors before your eyes, because if you admitted it isn't, you'd face your own utter insignificance in the face of the above-mentioned bastards.

Wow - are you preparing to dive off the deep end? There's no water in the pool, Azuma.

When and where did I EVER declare that the world is just? WTF would a "just world" even be like? I don't think that any of us can even imagine such a thing. For starters, no birth defects - every child is born healthy, born intelligent, born with all of his body and mental faculties, ready to grow into a strong, healthy toddly, child, adolescent, and adult. There would be no addictions. No mental illnesses. No psychological problems. That is only a start.

All the religious violence, down through history? In a just world, every child would be born with an absolute knowledge that there is no god, or that there is One True God, or that there are dozens, hundreds, or thousands of little gods. We would all KNOW the truth, and there would be no controversy.

Politics? In a just world, we would all know when a politician was trying to blow smoke up our asses. Oh, wow, there goes most of the rest of our wars, down through history - and prehistory as well.

      A "just world", you say.

In a just world, the economy would be a lot like the commies say things should be like. You need something? Take it. No, no no no NO! You don't take shit because you merely WANT it - you take what you need, and leave the rest, and everyone is happy that you now have what you NEED. Extras, you've got to work for. And, of course, in this perfectly just world, you wouldn't even WANT to take more than your share.

Tell us, Ms. Hazuki, just WTF do you think a just world would be like? No child abuse, no spousal abuse, no retards and mental deficients to ever be abused, and no one who would have the least desire to abuse a retard if he did find one.

Few if any humans can even imagine such a world.

FFS woman, you must be hallucinating badly if YOU think that I think that the world is "just". In reality, most people buy justice, or they get shit on, and we both know that. No money, no justice. If you've got money, we'll help you to redefine justice to fit your desires.

Talk to your drug supplier, and tell him you want the pure shit. Those additives and adulterants are fucking your mind up.

Oh yeah, in a JUST world, none of us would be driven by our hormones. I suspect that damned near everyone of us has made stupid decisions because our hormones dictated what we wanted. In a just world, we would ALL decide, sanely, and rationally, if and when we WANTED to become intimate with someone. In the real world, our high schools are pits or hormones, boys and girls alike sexually mature, and ready to fuck their brains out at the drop of a hat. Hell, they don't need any hat to drop - if the wind changes, they want to fuck.

Just say no to drugs, and you'll help to make this world a little more just.

Oh, shit, Runaway! I thought you wanted it, as much as I did! I mean, I was being rational, at least as much as anyone could be when confronted with an offer of intimacy from someone as ancient and creaky and right-wing leaning as yourself. I promised to never tell. But now, now I suspect that you were just, oh I don't know, "out of control"? This tarnishes our relationship, but I just want you to know, it is all on you. Grow up, Runaway! Be a Man! Grow a Pair! And leave Chelsea alone.

ROFLMAO - I may just adopt you for your entertainment value. You won't mind staying in a separate little house in the back yard, will you? Unless you're abusive toward her, Rags will keep you company while you make silly posts on the internet. Rags loves silly people.

You're...really not helping your case here. Step back and look at the contents of your posts; most sane people looking at them are going to see "Guy getting badly savaged and resorting to weird, slightly creepy-uncle-ish insults to try and get his own back." You make yourself look worse with your own posts than anything I could possibly say to or about you does.
