The U.S. Marine Corps will soon have its first female infantry officer. The unnamed lieutenant is expected to lead an infantry platoon of about 40 marines:

The Marine Corps is set to have its first female infantry officer, a milestone in its nearly 250-year-long history.

The lieutenant is scheduled to graduate with her all-male peers on Monday after she completed all of the graduation requirements in the service's grueling 13-week Infantry Officer Course, the Corps said. Her completion of the course was first reported by The Washington Post. The officer's name was not made public.

The course was opened to women in 2012, and on an experimental basis. More than 30 women attempted it, but when none passed, the course was once again closed to females in the spring of 2015. After the Pentagon opened all military jobs to women, four additional women tried the course without success.

Also at The Hill.

    I don't see anything backhanded.

    Relevant concern: meeting standards.

    Irrelevant concern: personal plumbing.

If you think that a realistic recognition of physiological differences is backhanded, you're part of the problem.

What amuses me to no end with you cisgendered shits (I assume, but since we're all AC, we could all be lizard people for all anybody knows) is that if you would have had objective standards for shit in the first place instead of organizing your society into a rigidly enforced caste system, there wouldn't be any angst whatsoever over somebody with a low blood testosterone level rising to the challenge.

No, it doesn't amuse me. It irritates me because I'm stuck here on this planet with all of you dipshits.

Speaking of, are we sure she's in the correct caste? Has anybody measured her clitoris and taken blood samples like you do with your athletes?

You can tell which caste is the superior caste and which is the inferior caste, because anybody may be ejected from the superior caste by failing such superficial tests. I've yet to hear of somebody forced to compete in the female caste because they didn't meet the superficial standards for the male caste. The only thing that's notable here is that somebody from the superior caste is taking up a task that is normally relegated to the inferior caste: being cannon fodder to advance the international bankers' (regardless of any banker's ethnicity or religion) interests abroad.

      You people are all incorrigible.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cisgender [wikipedia.org]

Cisgender (often abbreviated to simply cis) is a term for people whose gender identity matches the sex that they were assigned at birth. Cisgender may also be defined as those who have "a gender identity or perform a gender role society considers appropriate for one's sex". It is the opposite of the term transgender.

So in other words, "man" and "woman." We do have those perfectly serviceable words to describe people whose gender identity matches their genitals.

Gender studies is an interesting field. Having a gender identity that does not map to "man" or "woman" must be lonely, painful, and difficult. But resorting to semantic archana to redefine "man" and "woman" as something other than standard is passive aggressive. More, it's weak.

You're different. Different is good. If you are feeling alienated and uncomfortable because your neighbors don't respect you, move to New York. It's the city of black sheep. Celebrate who you are and cherish the unique perspective you bring to the world around you, here. I guarantee nobody would look at you sideways.

Anyway, embrace your identity. Don't cheapen it by lashing out at others with petty word games. You're better than that.

Yeah, from the local cisgender lesbian--fuck you sideways, J-Mo. I bet if we went through your browser history there'd be loads of transsexual pornography in it. You care waaaaaay too much about this stuff to be entirely secure in your sexuality and gender identity, if you ask me.

Are trans people defective? In the sense that the latest research I've seen identifies abnormalities in one of the striae, IIRC, yes...but by this standard so are the nearsighted. What's your point, besides that you have an ick and you want everyone to know you have an ick?

Yea, visual defects are defects, we can correct them now but in days past they were a major handicap to survival. Not on the level of being so fudged up you can't figure out how to reproduce, but defective. Yes I wear bifocals. Difference is I'm not trying to define my entire existence around that (now) minor defect, not trying to force everyone else to redefine it as 'normal', not trying to invent and impose some bullshit made up word on everyone with eyes that do not need corrective lenses, not trying to encourage children with perfectly normal vision to wear glasses even if they might damage them. You and your prog ilk on the other hand....

Good Lord, do you think I go around trying to "turn" straight women or something? You actually believe there's some big gay plot to convert the human race to homosexuality--not that that's even possible, if the science is right--and crash the population or God knows what else?

This is the mark of either incurable intellectual laziness (i.e., you heard this from somewhere and went "hurr seems legit") or insanity. No, I don't want more lesbians out there. So long as one particular one, my girlfriend, exists, I wouldn't care if no one else was but us.

The opposite of normal is abnormal. Abnormal does not necessarily imply malfunctioning, humans for instance are abnormal as far as Earthen organisms are concerned.
