from the what-a-doll! dept.

A sex doll was so heavily molested by eager men it broke before anyone could actually use it. Or use it privately, anyway.

We're not entirely sure what happened to 'Samantha'. But its owner complained that the £3,000 robot was left "heavily soiled" after being exhibited at a tech fair.

Developer Sergi Santos, from Barcelona, Spain, says visitors to the Arts Electronica Festival in Linz treated the 'intelligent' sex doll "like barbarians", and added that two fingers were broken in the melee.

"The people mounted Samantha's breasts, her legs and arms," Sergi said. "Two fingers were broken. She was heavily soiled."

Sergi added that the robot had to be sent back in a parcel to Barcelona for repairs and cleaning after being left so filthy and broken by the never-ending male attention.

But said: "Samantha can endure a lot, she will pull through."

Not sure I could get a 3,000 pound robot up to my 3rd floor walk-up...

    You think so? I dunno.

The thing about using machines for sex is they are boring. What you get with them is always the same. Sex with real people is always a little bit different. A machine will only do what it's programmed to do, and do it over and over in the same way. A human being can go off-script. A human being can fall in love with you, or really desire you.

There's the crucial emotional dimension of sex. If you never have sex with anything but a machine or a prostitute, some part of you is going to feel depressed and empty. I know that as lonely and unsuccessful as I was when a young nerd it was why I was never interested in prostitutes or machines--it wouldn't have made me feel any better.

Speak for yourself. Personally, the only "depressed and empty" results I've had were the result of longer term relationships where the women, as they always, always do (I'm talking decades here), lose interest in sex.

Healthy men are driven to have sex. This remains stable until their hormones tank with age or disease. If they do. Or if they are exhausted - kids, work, etc. Although that doesn't slow down, much less stop, some guys either.

Healthy women, OTOH, are driven to hook men into providing security, which drive expresses itself as sexual desire. The catch is, when you actually do provide security, they lose that desire. Ramps right down. Happens every time. Anyone who doesn't believe me, either you have a massively rare individual on hand (not at all likely), or you just haven't been hanging with them long enough. I'm 60, in great shape, and the score is four for four long term relationships. Four very sexy, very beautiful women who turned into four sex-disinterested women. Four houses handed over, four divorces, four restarts (first one obviously not a restart.) My current lady is still cooking right along. I'm hoping I croak or my hormones tank before this one loses interest. If not... well, there goes house number five. Lots of houses out there...

There is an old parable about this: The first year you are married, every time you and your spouse have sex, put a marble into a jar. After a year passes, every time you and your spouse have sex, remove a marble from that jar. No matter how long you are married, the jar will never become empty.
