DirecTV is allowing at least some customers to cancel subscriptions to its Sunday Ticket package of NFL games and obtain refunds, if they cite players' national anthem protests as the reason for discontinuing service, customer service representatives said Tuesday.
Under Sunday Ticket's regular policy, refunds are not to be given once the season is underway. But the representatives said they are making exceptions this season -- which began in September -- because of the controversy over the protests, in which players kneel or link arms during the national anthem.
Spokesmen for DirecTV-parent AT&T Inc. (T) and the National Football League declined to comment.

I support their right to have an anthem.
And their right to not stand for the anthem.
I wouldn't necessarily support their right to talk over the anthem, even though I think anthems are ridiculous hangovers of monarchy and patriotism. Because then one groups freedom is being ruined by another group's freedom.
Freedom has a limit which ends precisely at the boundary of another reasonable person's freedom. The second you interfere with someone else's freedom, you have a conflict and a problem that you could have avoided.
But "kneeling" or "not standing" or even "quietly playing on their phone" disturbs and interferes with NOBODY'S freedom.

I support their right to kneel during the anthem as well. I also support the right of viewers to not spend their money to be pissed off.

Then why are you complaining so goddamn much? Oh right, cause you're a HYPOCRITE! Seriously, you just can't see the conflicts between your very own statements. You are like the Orange Dictator, maybe we should have a new story category "TMBgret" where people search the archives for hypocritical TMB posts.

The anthem is kind of like your alcoholic great grandmother/father. You don't always want to deal with him, but because you wouldn't be here without him you still let him ramble on about inane stuff because it makes him happy
