DirecTV is allowing at least some customers to cancel subscriptions to its Sunday Ticket package of NFL games and obtain refunds, if they cite players' national anthem protests as the reason for discontinuing service, customer service representatives said Tuesday.

Under Sunday Ticket's regular policy, refunds are not to be given once the season is underway. But the representatives said they are making exceptions this season -- which began in September -- because of the controversy over the protests, in which players kneel or link arms during the national anthem.

Spokesmen for DirecTV-parent AT&T Inc. (T) and the National Football League declined to comment.

Finally, a post by you in this thread that I can agree with! I've never understood why anyone would want to watch American football; it's a horribly boring sport. Kittens, however, are quite entertaining to watch.

You don't need 3 or 4 either: just get one kitten and watch how it interacts with your middle-aged adult cat. The adult cat will probably be getting a lot more exercise.

Same here. Rather watch paint dry than watch football. There was a moment 20 years ago when I had cable in which I might have come to watch sports and become a fan, but ESPN didn't want to let me watch rugby or sumo without paying an arm and a leg. And so the moment passed, we cut the cord, and I have not spent a dime on anything sports-related since, and am now raising kids who barely know spectator sports exist. They, in turn, will grow up and raise kids who also will have nothing to do with the sports networks.
