The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a new regulation restricting unauthorized drone operations over 10 Department of Interior sites, including the Statue of Liberty and Mount Rushmore.

[...] The announcement says the action comes at "the request of U.S. national security and law enforcement agencies." It says it marks the first time the FAA has restricted drone flights over Interior Department landmarks, although many of the sites were covered by a National Park Service ban on drones issued in 2014.

But that ban pertained to "launching, landing or operating unmanned aircraft" in national parks. The FAA's announcement includes the airspace above parks and landmarks.

    They matter because they're additional things they'll stick to you if they ever catch you. The way the us justice repression system works is that they'll leave you alone for a long time. But once you get in its cross-hairs, they will literally throw everything and anything at you to get you to squeal:
    - Ever driven too fast? Whoopsihey, reckless endangerment
    - Have a picture of your grandchild bare-chested playing in a pool? BAM, child porn right there, maybe even put attempted distribution of it in there as well
    - Ever made so much as a scratch on anything in a government building? HEYO, look: wanton destruction of government property

    Welcome to the Land of the Free(tm) where you know you're free because the Totalitarian State tells you you are! (Oh, and you just also got slammed with trademark infringement for reading "The land of the free" in your head... bam, made you do it again, 2 counts of that!)

    This is why we don't get along with the DPRK, because finally there is a thing where we truly are #1, and now we've got this little pissant state well on its way at beating us at that too!

    And, yet, they couldn't keep the Lincoln Monument clean... vigilance in the Trump era, it's like a bad movie but this one is playing on CNN and FOX news.
