The large accountancy firm Deloitte was hacked, losing client e-mails and files. The hackers had access inside the company's networks for months. Deloitte is doing its best to downplay the severity of this hack, but Bran [sic] Krebs reports that the hack "involves the compromise of all administrator accounts at the company as well as Deloitte's entire internal email system."
So far, the hackers haven't published all the data they stole.
If the data isn't published, then it's a for-profit hack, vs. a Wikileaks/Anonymous-style hack?

Looks like they failed to take into account the cost of poor IT security.

They know the costs very well. They are a Tier 1 security consulting outfit. Best of 2012 according to TFA.
You need to understand the principles of underwriting and risk management.
They threw the dice gambling on reducing a cost (internal security) versus potential losses. They are no doubt legally indemnified in their contracts (which will be now be litigated ad nauseam) and will shirk resposibility by claiming some 1337 h4x0rz from Ukraine, Nigeria, or North Korea are really attacking Uncle Sam and it's all Washington's fault.
Now we'll see more legal cock fights and public indignation, but nothing serious will come of it.
Since all global capitalist money is fake anyway there will be no net loss. The Federal Reserve will just print more. That's how we hold the whole house of cards of international banking and equities up.

Their main headquarters is in New York, since the UK is a mere US vassal state.
Kinda like Virgin Islands bank accounts and Liberian-registered ships, but with funny-looking guards marching around.

What cost? Do you think this will amount to any real consequences?
