Solar power grew faster than any other source of fuel for the first time in 2016, the International Energy Agency said in a report suggesting the technology will dominate renewables in the years ahead.

The institution established after the first major oil crisis in 1973 said 165 gigawatts of renewables were completed last year, which was two-thirds of the net expansion in electricity supply. Solar powered by photovoltaics, or PVs, grew by 50 percent, with almost half of new plants built in China.

"What we are witnessing is the birth of a new era in solar PV," Fatih Birol, executive director of the IEA, said in a statement accompanying the report published on Wednesday in Paris. "We expect that solar PV capacity growth will be higher than any other renewable technology through 2022."

Solar power will only work until the sun burns out, but dinosaurs are forever.

Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles is in Rancho Palos Verdes. And it beats all other golf courses on the west coast. But they mean the solar panels. Which are growing tremendously, and will continue to grow as work on the WALL which is already under construction in the form of new renovation of old and existing fences and walls, continues. For certain areas I would do a fence, but certain areas, a wall is more appropriate. And it's a great, great place to put solar panels. 🇺🇸

    Look, Mr. Real Trump,

    1. Solar PV will replace coal. Deal with it.

    2. Don't build a Wall along the entire border. Build a Walmart along the entire border. The Mexicans would be happy to come in from the back and work in the Walmart. Pay them more than minimum wage. The Americans would come in form the front side of the Walmart and buy things. Just don't try to push self check out on us. It will pay for itself.

Your premise of Walmart paying more than minimum wage is laughable. Many of their workers are paid so little that if they were not on government assistance, they literally could not afford to work there. Bring in foreigners and pay them more? That's exactly the opposite of the reason to hire outlanders. But, providing opportunity for those people who might otherwise die in the strenuous trek across the border, if they're not shot by vigilantes, has some merit. We're thinking of doing work in the area there anyway... Show us you're on the "right side" of this, help us build the wall or whatever ends up going there, and then we'll give you a track to citizenship. Win-win?
