Way to go, New York City! All 1,200 schools in the New York City public school district will now offer a vegan hummus option every day at the beginning of this school year, thanks to The Coalition for Healthy School Food (CHSF), a non-profit that helps introduce plant-based foods into schools. Vegan options for students that are available on the school’s vegetarian menu will range from Mexicali Chili, Lentil Stew, Lentil Sloppy Joes, Braised Black Beans with Plantains, and Zesty BBQ Crunchy Tofu. These yummy meals will be on rotation for the vegetarian menus.

And this isn’t CHSF‘s first initiative to help students have access to fresh, healthy food. CHSF has worked with the city’s department of education to help three NYC schools, Active Learning Elementary School in Queens (PS244), Peck Slip School in Manhattan (PS343), and The Bergen Elementary School (PS1) in Brooklyn, to transition to an all-vegetarian menu.

How can they have any pudding if they don't eat their meat?

First of all, let's not be silly. All school food is disgusting. It's somewhat related to prison food, homeless shelter food, and military food.

The purpose here is to surrender to an invasion, giving up our own culture instead of demanding integration. We ought to instead firmly say "NO" to this. If you don't like pork and beef, you can find some other country you like better.

I never had a problem with it, growing up and eating it in the 90s and 00s. Has it changed that much? Then again I'm one of those people who can eat almost anything and get good from it so...

So endorsing the brutal, torturous conditions in which pigs are bred in order to be slaughtered is mandatory for 'real' americans, who knew.

They are pigs. They would eat you in a heartbeat if they were hungry. (careless farmers get eaten sometimes) In nature, they suffer even more, with parasites and fighting.

It is pretty damn American. The Grapes of Wrath starts off with killing pigs.

We treat our pigs well. Some places in India still use pig toilets. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pig_toilet [wikipedia.org]

Basically, if you have an arbitrary non-medical dietary restriction, you aren't being very American. You are rejecting our culture. You don't like our values. Why are you here? Go elsewhere and live among your kind.

School food in California was pretty good in the 2000s. Also, modern MREs are good as well (not that I had the old ones for comparison).
