The European Southern Observatory (ESO) will announce an "unprecedented discovery" on Monday:

ESO will hold a press conference on 16 October 2017 at 16:00 CEST, at its Headquarters in Garching, Germany, to present groundbreaking observations of an astronomical phenomenon that has never been witnessed before.

[...] By registering for the conference, journalists agree to honour an embargo, details of which will be provided after registration, and not to publish or discuss any of the material presented before the start of the conference on 16 October 2017 at 16:00 CEST.

LEAK IT!

Update: The announcement will be related to gravitational waves, and may involve a neutron star collision, which would also be visible using optical methods.

If I may ask, I wonder what makes you an almost 100% supporter of Trump? He has not held a consistent position on almost any topic over at least the last 5 years or so. His positions change constantly, and that is true even after he was sworn in. I found him an interesting candidate before the RNC because he was touting some pretty taboo Republican positions that I thought . I really thought that he had the potential to really get things done by working with the moderates in both parties because he showed that he could give the middle finger to the tea party and still win primaries. But once it became clear that he was going to get the nomination, he went all-in on the far-right thing and became entirely unacceptable.

The part that I don't understand about his supporters is that Trump clearly doesn't care about what makes it to his desk, just as long as he can sign something and show success. He clearly doesn't care what is in any health bill, he just wants one that he can sign into law. I think "tax reform" will be the same thing. Same with the Gorsuch nomination. Take any other president, especially someone like Reagan, they were constantly working the lawmakers to get things done. Reagan was calling lawmakers, using charm and decency when it worked, horsetraded when he needed, but he was always working for a result. Trump just says "get me a bill" and gripes when they can't. This is where my disconnect is with his supporters. What is it that is appealing to you because he's good at making slogan-like statements, and demanding results, but he doesn't seem to be good at actually leading or even leading by example in any manner.

Interestingly, this is how the US system of government was supposed to work. Back before all the presidential power grabs, Congress wrote the laws and made the decisons. Congress has the power to declare war, make treaties, set budgets, etc. The President was a figurehead for dealing with foreign powers and ceremonial functions, but had very little autocratic power.
Maybe Trump is secretly a strict constitutionalist, and is trying to get Congress to take back the power and responsibility that they should be exercising. If so, expect him to get more and more outrageous until Congress are forced into doing their jobs. Should be fun to watch.
