Gerard Lambe, a consultant plastic surgeon at the Reflect Clinic in Manchester and a spokesman for British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, is one of those surgeons offering the service.

They can be used to show what a woman's breast would look like if they were made bigger or smaller.

Gerard, who has been using the technology for a year, told The Sun Online: "They have been a huge advance, in my eyes.

"I have been doing plastic surgery for a long time and augmentation [making them bigger] was a bit in the stone age.

"You would have three or four sizes (of implants) that would just get stuffed in a bra and the woman would say it looks OK or it doesn't.

"This software allows you to show what a round implant would look like as opposed to a tear drop one, it allows you to simulate what it would look like under the muscle and over the muscle.

I wonder how much of this is technology looking for a question, and how much is doctors trying to reduce the chances of having unhappy patients?

It's a selling tool, nothing else. Hand a woman a floppy bag of silicone and she might yet decide not to have the surgery.

Show her a glamorous 3D rendering of her with swimwear-model tits and she's far more likely to go ahead and spend the money to go under the knife.

One of the most common regrets of women who do get breast augmentation surgery is that they didn't go big enough. A second surgery to install a larger set of implants is actually quite common.

If this can give a patient a better idea of what a given size will look like, it could reduce (so to speak) those extra operations quite a bit.

It seems to me that if you were gonna go in for body modification/augmentation, why not really augment yourself? Why stop with making your breasts larger? Why not install actuators you can use to make them bounce up and down? Install a magnet that vibrates when pointing north, so you never get lost. Install a flash drive and microphone so you can be a kickass infiltrator. You know? Something that gives you a real edge beyond further capturing male gazes that will be directed there anyway. Go full on Ghost In The Shell/Aeon Flux. That would be badass. If I was a geek girl with the ability to afford elective surgery like that, it's what I would do.

Well, you did say, "It seems to me that if you were gonna go in for body modification/augmentation, why not really augment yourself? Why stop with making your breasts larger?" so I just went a little farther with the extreme augmentation.

I love what my daughter Ivanka got done. She’s now got the big phony tits and got her nose tweaked, they call it rhinoplasty. Nothing major but it’s totally changed her look.

          > If I was a geek girl with the ability to afford elective surgery like that

If you're geeky enough to imagine it, you're geeky enough to do it. You don't need to be female. So the only obstacle, in my opinion, is the cost.

Just what we need - more marketing tools to encourage women to mutilate themselves chasing unattainable ideals.

Seriously - of all the breasts I've seen, in person, video, etc - the only bad ones have been fake.

Boobs are boobs, there's nothing wrong with small ones. Meanwhile, fakes have an unnatural shape which is obvious to anyone seeing them uncovered. And if a woman isn't intending to show them off and only wants something bigger to fill her clothes, she might as well spare herself the pain and expense and just stuff her bra.

They have an unnatural shape (which isn't completely bad; a lot of natural ones get very floppy and ugly with age unfortunately), an unnatural feel from what I've heard, and also a very unnatural-looking scar line on the bottom that you get to see when you get the woman's clothes off.

Also, it appears that women with augmented breasts have a higher risk of cancer:
          http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/22/health/breast-implant-cancer-deaths-fda/index.html [cnn.com]

My advice: be happy with what you have, and get into an exercise routine and healthy diet to make the most of what you have.

Boobs are boobs, there's nothing wrong with small ones.

I'll go much farther than this: I'd *much* rather a woman have small but firm ones than big, saggy, floppy ones. Once you get past the age of 40 or so, this should be a big concern because any woman you date or marry probably isn't going to be in her 20s any more, so you're not going to find one with a perfect body. The small ones look much, much better with age than the big ones. And as you said, a woman can just get a bigger bra and stuff it if she wants bigger ones in public (except at the beach).
