Friends don't let friends talk about drugs.

A 24-year-old man from Illinois has been accused by federal prosecutors of being the spokesman for AlphaBay, the now-defunct online drug marketplace.

On Wednesday, Ronald L. Wheeler III of Streamwood, Ill. was charged in federal court in Atlanta with "conspiracy to commit access device fraud," according to the Associated Press.
...
Prosecutors said that Wheeler operated online under the names "Trappy" and "Trappy-Pandora." He is said to have served as AlphaBay's "public relations specialist" beginning in May 2015, mediating sales disputes and promoting AlphaBay online, including on Reddit.

It is, however, OK to do PR for a company that launders billions of dollars for drug cartels.

You forgot the biggest difference: they don't want any competition, and they have a contract with the monopoly contract enforcer in this neck of the woods to put any would-be competition in a cage.

Now, one may wonder why that contract enforcer would voluntarily enter into such a contract that puts one of its clients into a monopsony position.

One of the interesting thing, sociologically speaking, is that organized crime families like HSBC are actually able to negotiate on equal terms with a government. When one is an international syndicate, suddenly governments are no longer violent imposed monopolies. This is, ultimately, a demonstration of why anarcho-capitalism does not work: men aren't angels.

But but but! For somebody utterly lacking power like me, isn't this a demonstration that anarcho-capitalism would work in my favor? If we had ancap, obviously monopolies could not exist. I would contract with a different contract enforcer. Well, that's a great construct, but it does not prevent the 800 lb gorilla contract enforcer putting my contract enforcer in a cage. Thugs rarely care about entering into lengthy contract arbitration to determine whether they have standing to do what they want to do.

It seems to me that Mr. Wheeler was attempting to provide contract enforcement services.
