PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is one of 2017's most popular video games, and it's getting a makeover for the Chinese market:
Chinese gaming giant Tencent Holdings Ltd is bringing "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds", the world's hottest video game, to China, but with a twist. The gory, battle royale-style game will get a socialist makeover to meet stringent Chinese rules. The move comes after China's content regulator slammed the South Korean-made game, PUBG for short, last month for being too violent and said it would likely be blocked because it "severely deviates from socialist core values".
The PUBG game where players fight for survival on a deserted island is currently the world's top-selling videogame, having shipped more than 20 million copies since its launch in March. It has been developed by South Korean firm Blue Hole.
Tencent, which recently outstripped Facebook Inc in market value, said it had won the exclusive rights to the game in China, and that it would modify the game in order to meet the requirements of China's regulators and censors. "(Tencent) will make adjustment to content ... and make sure they accord with socialist core values, Chinese traditional culture and moral rules," it said in a statement on Wednesday.

So what exactly are 'socialist core values' in a video-game? Will your score/healthpoints/gear be taken away from you and redistributed to the less (skilled) fortunate? Isn't that just part of the gaming process as you get "killed" in a battle royal style game? You die and then someone takes your stuff?
I really do wonder what these stringent Chines rules will be. Will there be breaks where everyone starts quoting from Chairman Mao or are their going to be a cultural revolution mid game where all the intellectuals are forced out into the country side or will there be some kind of grindy death marches?
Perhaps it will just be like in Germany when there are Nazis in a video-game, all the Swastikas are removed or replaced. Sometimes they also get all freaky about there being red blood being splattered around so they change the colour to green, like that would make it less weird. I seem to recall some old news about there not being skeletons and such left if you die in World of Warcraft in the Chinese edition. Apparently death is unseemly. Beyond that all the bans in China for video games appear to be about smearing their image and talking smack about their Army.

I'm just happy to know that I'm banned in China.
There are a number of games that China doesn't like. They don't like the idea of killing your fellow human beings. Better to sacrifice yourself for those human beings, or some such thing. Always put the social welfare ahead of your own.

Yeah, I know. In the great america, you prefer to have someone murder 500 people with guns at a concert, dozens of people murdered at a church, or murder kids in a fucking kindergarden than to take instruments of murder away from people. Then the americans look at unstable parts of the world they helped create and watch in fear how suicide bomber kills themselves and 50 others ... and at the same time continue to be apathetic with regards to their systematic problems.
So yes, the rest of the world would like to put social welfare ahead of idiots with guns. Rest of the world understands that guns are for killing and it is best that it is difficult to get those things. But not in America. because you know, the British are coming? Idiocracy is what America is today, with Trump being your perfect representative.

Yeah, actually. But really, there is a way to decrease violence (not really from mass shootings, which only make up a fraction of the problem anyway) while also increasing individual liberty: Legalize all drugs. The black market causes a lot of violence, so by shrinking their influence, you can decrease the amount of violence. It would also likely decrease deaths from overdoses, since people would know what they are getting. I prefer that solution to banning/restricting guns, and will tolerate some gun deaths.
Which Americans? I'm not afraid of terrorists, and I'm vehemently anti-war. Maybe you should speak more precisely, rather than making it appear as if you are making sweeping generalizations.

Want to compare obscene realities, then this is perfect examples. Except cultural revolution died soon after McCarthyism in America ... but the gun violence in America is continuing legacy that is simply ignored because those individual lives don't seem to matter, only collective rights of gun idiots.

Me thinks it has been a while since you'd need to reconsider. The civil war alone resulted in casualties of 3% of your population, with 620,000 deaths in 4 years [wikipedia.org]. Since then, you were mostly at war one way or another. [wikipedia.org]

To arrive at twenty million, for either the Soviet or Red China, we are only counting the citizens/subjects/vassals/chattel of their own countries. So, no, dirty forrinurs aren't counted in the US' mass graves score. Matter of fact, native Americans don't count either, because few if any of those slaughtered were US Citizens. We have a long way to go to match the Commies. Even if we count all those people who have died in our prison-for-profit industry, we haven't made a decent start.

Yeah, I was sort of hoping that Communist China would promote a game with Communist values. Otherwise I confuse their success with what Bernie Sanders is endorsing. That doesn't fit the Trump narrative based on the words I see, so then does that make Trump a liberal?
