ArsTechnica has a great story about NASA's early space program and how the tragic fire during Apollo 1's testing was a turning point for the program.

As Gus Grissom said, "The conquest of space is worth the risk of life." He was one of the astronauts who died in the Apollo 1 fire.

Didja block all the pics, or what? You didn't see them, did you? You can't cram all that into a single page. You're one of those assholes who tries to stuff 30 pounds of groceries into a 5 pound bag, right? Stop being such a douche. Get a few more bags for the groceries, and scroll on down to the other pages. And, allow Ars to load images. FFS, man, I use NoScript too, but I look at pics sometimes!!

BTW, want any naked pics of your wife? Now, she so fat, you'll need a couple of pages for each pic!

    Yes, that's my default configuration.
I'm very stingy when it comes to my bandwidth, screen space, and attention.

Below in the (meta)thread, others have made other complaints about that site.
The change in ownership was mentioned.

Ars is becoming a site to avoid--if they haven't totally passed that mark.
(I already disliked them for their anti-FOSS prejudices.)

I really hate the mergers and acquisition mania of the post-Reagan era--especially the revolving-door regulatory-capture dirtbags who rubberstamp it.
