This works pretty well in the country.
Put up a big gate, along with cattle bars.
Keep a really big, really angry bull on the other side of the gate. Optionally with a few signs reading:
NO TRESPASSERS
THIS PROPERTY PROTECTED BY SMITH & WESSON
NEVER MIND THE DOG, BEWARE OF OWNER
The ones stupid enough to ignore the signage are probably not going to argue with 1800 pounds of bloodlust and horns.
A flock of geese with bad attitudes and goslings also help.
