    Hint: search on an unbiased search engine like duckduckgo, and include the term "illegal alien" (as used in our laws) in your search terms

    Funny you should say that, that's almost exactly what I did [duckduckgo.com] when I found that NYT link. Pretty much all of the top results are talking about "hyperbole" and "mythical connection" and "Trump is a lying asshole" (paraphrased).
