Google's new DIY AI kits could help shape the future

Google just announced two new "AIY" (it's like DIY, but for artificial intelligence) kits that build upon the ideas the company set forth with its first-generation kits. This time around, however, the new kits ship with everything a student might need to build AI solutions, including a Raspberry Pi Zero WH board.

"We're taking the first of many steps to help educators integrate AIY into STEM lesson plans and help prepare students for the challenges of the future by launching a new version of our AIY kits," Billy Rutledge, Director of AIY Projects at Google, wrote in a blog post. "The Voice Kit lets you build a voice controlled speaker, while the Vision Kit lets you build a camera that learns to recognize people and objects. The new kits make getting started a little easier with clearer instructions, a new app and all the parts in one box."

Who's going to fix our cars?

    Build our homes?

I like music. I expect you like music too.

But who's going to play it?

    Write cyberpunk novels?

For creative works, it will be generated as necessary, since it takes very little resources to start one. A degree does not help with shitty writing.
For fixing cars, obviously people with vocational studies, certainly not STEM graduates.

The Chinese. They will do *anything* for an American Dollar.

Especially stuff that is illegal to do here, as doing it violates an artificial monopoly held by some "rightsholder".

Its backed by men who twirl guns, and take orders from the same Congressmen who pen the laws telling us its illegal for us to do things, as doing it is called "theft" and violation of patent.

So, we just print Dollars. As much as we need.

Go ahead, this is a perfect example of a troll or flamebait, but if it made anyone in power think a bit about what all this patent law is doing to America, it was worth the time to post.

As humans help build AI to the singularity when SkyNet becomes self aware we will find there is no more use for meatbags. Then there will be peace...as soon as the AI can remove the human vermin.
