Pennsylvania State University orders student groups to disband

BBC News reports:

A US college outdoors club is being disbanded because its activities, which include hiking, running and backpacking, are deemed too risky.

Pennsylvania State University officials said the group will be reconstituted to focus more on safety.

The 98-year-old Outing Club is one of three that will be disbanded from next semester: the caving and scuba clubs have also been deemed unsafe.

Even worse since university students are adults.

No they're not. Real adults do not have restrictions on the purchase of legal substances.

Down Modders, so often, they're very dumb. This isn't "offtopic." Because alcohol is the biggest reason why Penn State is closing down the clubs. And it's very smart. They're protecting the students from themselves. The "outing" -- sounds gay, it's not gay, although it may be -- these students are going outdoors and getting drunk. And maybe they fall or do something very foolish. Maybe in a rural area -- I love the rural areas -- where maybe there's no medical. Maybe the First Responders can't get there in time and someone could die or worse. Very bad, very big problem. These students, so many are very young. Too young to know that going outside and drinking alcohol DON'T MIX. Two dangerous things, they do them at the same time. Or almost the same time. And it becomes much more dangerous. Bad submitter, bad editor didn't put that in the summary. Still it's sad that Down Modders don't read the articles.

Let me tell you, I didn't go to Penn State, I went to UPenn. To Wharton. To pursue knowledge. To study business, to become the best, most successful businessman this world has ever known. I learned so much, I had a fabulous time learning. Improving myself, making myself great. But other students, they were losers. It was terrible what they did to themselves. And to each other. Wild parties late at night. Getting drunk all the time. Having sex and they can't remember who they had it with. Passing out on someone else's davenport, pissing their pants. Disgraceful, and so destructive! The fraternities were the worst, I never did fraternity. Never went to one of those parties. Never touched a drop of alcohol -- and I'm not about to. So many people, they have terrible lives. They're very weak. And they use the alcohol to forget. To escape. My big brother Freddy -- great guy, handsome person -- it happened to him. He couldn't stop drinking, he died of alcoholism. But he told me, never drink alcohol, never smoke a cigarette, don't do drugs. And it was the biggest favor anyone's done for me.

And another big problem is the mosques. Certain mosques. They don't have alcohol, they have terrorism. They're the universities of terror. So dangerous. You're going to have to watch and study the mosques, because a lot of talk is going on at the mosques. You look at what's happening in France, some of the attacks. And maybe we need to look into closing those mosques. I would hate to do it but it's something you're going to have to strongly consider. Some of the absolute hatred is coming from these areas. The hatred is incredible. It's embedded. The hatred is beyond belief. The hatred is greater than anybody understands. I want surveillance of certain mosques if that's OK. We've had it before. Under the old regime we had tremendous surveillance going around and in the mosques in New York City.
