Vox reports

We all have a preferred time for sleeping — a body clock. There are “morning people,” “evening people [aka 'night owls'],” and those in between. Our preferences for when to sleep are called chronotypes. And, increasingly, researchers have been investigating what happens to people whose body clocks are out of sync with the rest of society.

[...] Those who reported having a later chronotype (people who are night owls) had a 10 percent increased likelihood of dying compared to people who had an earlier chronotype. And this was true for people of all ages in the study, and for both men and women.

[...] It’s hard to know how all these risks interplay with one another, and there’s no clear answer as to why there may be health risks to being a late sleeper.

But here’s a compelling hypothesis: When our biological clock is out of sync with society’s, our whole biology gets thrown off, and many aspects of our lives grow more stressful. Having a very late chronotype is like living in a constant state of jet lag, which takes a toll on the body.

If you're living in the US right now, you don't have a job, you don't have health insurance, and you're starving to death. That's the new normal for Americans today. You thought the 1930s were bad. Welcome to the Greatest Depression. This one never ends.

A pitch black room. A sound. A continuous sound. If, by some miracle, one could manage to see in this room, they would spot a grown man sobbing in the corner. It was clear that this man, Brendonham, had succumbed to despair. What awful event transpired to turn a grown man into a sobbing child? Broken. Everything broke.

Just earlier that day, Brendonham was happier than could be. You see, he had acquired a large number of toys, and he intended to play with them for the next few weeks. However, something went wrong. Something went terribly wrong. One after another, one by one, the toys broke in quick succession. These toys were supposed to last for weeks, and yet Brendonham had managed to break them all in a mere hour! Indeed, the man had gotten a bit too playful, and now all that was left was garbage.

Yes, garbage. The corpses of the children which surrounded Brendonham were nothing but garbage to him; they could not scream; they could not squeal; they could not have seizures; they could not beg for mercy. Due to this, violating them was no fun at all for Brendonham! And so, the man sobbed. The man sobbed because his toys were broken. The man sobbed because he would need to acquire new ones, which meant more work for him. The man sobbed because he knew the new toys wouldn't last any longer. The man sobbed.

Anyone who looked at Brendonham would feel sorry for him, and would promptly be reduced to tears. Poor Brendonham! Poor, poor Brendonham. Would he ever recover from the shock? Most observers would instantly answer, "No."

However, defying all expectations, the hideous, obese man slowly rose from his spot in the corner. An unfortunate event such as this would not be enough to completely break this man's iron will. Brendonham would acquire new toys. Brendonham would play with these toys. And Brendonham would have fun!

Brendonham looked forward, his eyes brimming with determination. The brave man took one step, and then another. Onward! Anyone watching this scene would conclude that this man was extraordinary. And many good things lie in wait for extraordinary individuals. The man moved onward, towards the seemingly unassailable future of his dreams.

The future. It was a future filled with hope. A future filled with happiness. A future... filled with toys.

Spam Modders are very DUMB and very FOOLISH. They're trying to stop someone from tweeting -- and these are terrible tweets -- they may end up stopping someone else from tweeting. Or even themselves. Because the cyber of SoylentNews has a lot of problems. So the wrong people get banned. Unless, or until, the Administrators look into it. And if it's somebody they like, maybe they cancel the ban. Like they did for Ethanol-fueled. I've gotten so many Spam Mods, it's no fun. And the Administrators canceled most of them. They left one -- very unfair! And you've gotten a lot too, you didn't like it. You wrote in your journal about how unfair it was. Very easy to find that in your journal. And I thought, Aristarchus, there's something going on with him mentally, he's not all there, that's too bad. But he's so right about the Spam Mods, he said something smart, they're a terrible idea. And I just saw the very first Spam tweet -- first one I've seen -- in this topic. I don't believe in Spam Modding, but I warned people, look out for bad cyber. And here's another terrible tweet, I don't call it Spam, it has a Score of -1. But somehow you saw it. And you tried to make it so other folks would see it too. Draw their attention to it, so they read it. And maybe end up like so many of our very brave soldiers do. With the PTSD. Not nice and very foolish!

Then there is this: "...there's something going on with him mentally, he's not all there..." Like maybe you are seeing only you own reflection.

If you're living in the USA right now, you're very lucky. I'm working very hard for you. And I'm getting so much done. More than any President in the history of our Country. Biggest Tax Cut ever, lowest unemployment in 17 years, stocks hitting record highs, so many companies bringing their cash back from overseas, so many factories coming back. Beautiful earnings report from Facebook the other day, their earnings are up 63% from a year ago. They helped me win and they made a nice profit. Mark Z, if you're reading this, you're welcome. And we're going to repeal & replace Obamacare -- a total DISASTER. We killed the individual mandate, we put that money back in your pocket. I will REPEAL AND REPLACE!
