Backblaze's hard drive report for the first quarter of 2018 is sure to be some interesting reading if you're interested in hard drive reliability. Seagate 10TB, WD 6TB and HGST 4TB appear to be the overall best, based on the number of drive failures (0) compared to the number of drives deployed.

Is this [newegg.com] the one?
Kids these days.
When I first got a really high-paying job I bought a Fujitsu 5 1/4" full-height 135 MB - MEGABYTES! - SCSI drive used off the Usenet News as well as a shoebox case from the Weird Stuff Warehouse [weirdstuff.com].
That hard drive is still in service, attached to a SuperBowl 1984 Macintosh that has been upgraded to a Mac Plus. An old friend uses it for some favorite video games - from time to time he opens the Mac case to resolder a certain failure mode solder joint.
Sad News: the Weird Stuff Warehouse is out of business. They sold all their inventory to Outback Equipment. Now their trademark and domain are for sale.
That domain would be totally awesome for someone who wanted to sell surplus computing equipment. Please for the love of G-d buy it before eBay gets wind of it!

No more WeirdStuff? Ah, that place was legendary. The world is indeed a less significant place today.
It's really quite a simple choice: Life, Death, or Los Angeles.
