Meet Tarek Loubani, the Canadian Doctor Shot by Israeli Forces Monday While Treating Gaza's Wounded (Transcript)

As Palestinians vow to continue protesting against the Israeli occupation of Gaza, we speak to a Canadian doctor who was shot by Israeli forces in both legs Monday [May 14] while he was helping injured Palestinians. Israeli forces shot dead at least 61 unarmed Palestinian protesters taking part in the Great March of Return Monday, including one doctor. Canada, Britain, Germany, Ireland, and Belgium have called for an investigation into the killings. The United Nations Human Rights Council has announced that it will hold a special session Friday to discuss escalating violence in Gaza. We speak with Dr. Tarek Loubani, an emergency room medical doctor, one of 19 medical personnel shot in Gaza on Monday.

Audio and video links at the top of the page.

Pacifica Radio KPFK has a partial audio file, available till mid-July, ~7MB for the story. (KPFK is in fund drive mode.)
Gaza coverage begins at 13:25. The doctor's story is from 15:15 - 31:30.
He notes that the doctor who treated him was subsequently shot, resulting in his death--this, while he was wearing high-visibility clothing to denote his first-responder status.

Complaining about the people in charge is going to be described as anti-semitic.

    Why, is Donald Trump Jewish?

(kind of weird the article doesn't mention they're protesting the embassy move)

    > Why, is Donald Trump Jewish?

    (1) Assuming he is in fact in charge. Governmental figureheads are rarely totally "in charge", even dictators must compromise with powerbrokers in their states. A "government" by its nature involves multiple stakeholders, power brokers, and sources of power.

    (2) From what I've read, Trump himself isn't Jewish, but his kids married Jews, so they are "part of the family" so to speak.

Despite this, USA unconditional support for Israel predates trump by a wide margin, so you can't blame him for that.

He's definitely in charge of this. Moving the embassy was at the sole discretion of the president.

I can blame him for moving the embassy despite the fact that anyone with the slightest bit of knowledge of the region warned him that it would result in violence. He owns that violence fully.

You say that like it's a "bad thing". A lot of Americans like violence. School shooters, Black Lives Matter, KKK, socialist protestors, black-on-black violence - on and on it goes. Americans who can't get enough violence in their lives spend huge amounts of money going to theaters where gratuitous violence reigns.

'Murica! Fuck yeah! We're violent people!

But, even so, Trump doesn't own the violence in Gaza. Each and every halfwit protesting at the border, without weapons, without hope, challenging a well-equipped army, deserves his Darwin Award. Each and every one of them CHOSE to challenge an armed opponent.

Here we see the native troglodyte wallowing in his violent nature ready to condemn the victims of fellow troglodytes. Hypocrisy is second nature to these creatures so it is safest to presume that everything they say is a lie.

You went to the movies, and sat enraptured by the gunfire, explosions, and bodies hitting the ground - and you post this clap-trap? Who is the hypocrit here? I admit that I am a member of a violent society, and that I may have performed violent acts in the past? THAT is hypocrisy?

For someone condemning the violent nature of the US you shouldn't then turn around and say the victims of a war crime deserved it. I guess that bit of irony escapes you and you don't understand how your own statement encourages the culture of violence.

Everyone knows that violence is the life blood of the sand people. They commit violence over newspaper cartoons. They commit violence over crappy YouTube videos. No, Trump is not Jewish, nor are his sons, despite being married to Jews, and even if they have adopted the Jewish way of life, only eating Kosher food, going to Synagogue, etc. As I understand it, to be officially recognised as Jewish you need to have a Jewish mother[1], so his grandchildren born to Jewish mothers, at least as far as Judaism are concerend, will be 100% Jewish.

[1] Mathematically, this is not a very good requirement to have as it means that without an Islamic-style prohibition on apostacy or a Catholic style prohibition on contraception you are eventually going to run out of Jews through falling numbers of offspring, people ceasing to practice the faith, and the slight bias human kind has towards male offspring. Timescales for this are not going to being peace to the resulting Palestinian/Arab dominated state that was formerly known as Israel any time soon though - assuming there's even anyone still standing in the entire area by then, of course.

I read a few years ago, that Benjamin Netanyahu came to the USA, got the great honour to address the US Congress and president Obama, ...

... and lectured them sternly about that they should always support his country, Israel.

Does that kind of thing happen often? That a foreign leader from an ally is invited to talk, and when he is basically commanding you how to behave, your congresspeople just smile politely and nod? Never knew US politicians were so humble..

The entire US/Israel thing is just about maintaining power in the middle east because of oil. Israel has parlayed that to their own massive advantage and of course US politicians don't want to rock the boat. Ridiculous, but thems the breaks with stupid power politics.

Actually, I gather that it happens a lot. A lot of politics is about pretending to care when others talk, and then turning around and nakedly pushing your own agenda as much as you can get away with.
