Meet Tarek Loubani, the Canadian Doctor Shot by Israeli Forces Monday While Treating Gaza's Wounded (Transcript)

As Palestinians vow to continue protesting against the Israeli occupation of Gaza, we speak to a Canadian doctor who was shot by Israeli forces in both legs Monday [May 14] while he was helping injured Palestinians. Israeli forces shot dead at least 61 unarmed Palestinian protesters taking part in the Great March of Return Monday, including one doctor. Canada, Britain, Germany, Ireland, and Belgium have called for an investigation into the killings. The United Nations Human Rights Council has announced that it will hold a special session Friday to discuss escalating violence in Gaza. We speak with Dr. Tarek Loubani, an emergency room medical doctor, one of 19 medical personnel shot in Gaza on Monday.

Audio and video links at the top of the page.

Pacifica Radio KPFK has a partial audio file, available till mid-July, ~7MB for the story. (KPFK is in fund drive mode.)
Gaza coverage begins at 13:25. The doctor's story is from 15:15 - 31:30.
He notes that the doctor who treated him was subsequently shot, resulting in his death--this, while he was wearing high-visibility clothing to denote his first-responder status.

Note that all the dead are on the Gaza side of the fence, almost all reasonably far from it.
I don't hear of the Mexican Army shooting US border patrol every time they approach the existing fences, and vice-versa. The rules of engagement in normal situations is to wait for the other party to actually cross to your side, warn them one last time, and them blow them up legally. Then you ask the loser for money for fence repairs.

I do not believe that the IDF would have issues crushing a bunch of unarmed and lightly-armed people breaching their border, and I don't believe that sending the survivors back to Gaza would be objected to. Therefore, can you tell me why they choose to be the bad guy by shooting with live ammo people demonstrating on their own lawn dirt ?

The fence is not on the border, it is inside the border, on the Israeli side. Anyone approaching the fence has already crossed the border onto Israeli territory. Therefore, "I do not believe that the IDF would have issues crushing a bunch of unarmed and lightly-armed people breaching their border, and I don't believe that sending the survivors back to Gaza would be objected to" is exactly what they are doing, and yet it is being loudly objected to (by people such as yourself).

Hamas even is paying Palestinians who are shot by the IDF: $200 for a leg wound, $3,000 to the family of anyone shot dead.

So why do you think the IDF are the bad guys here? Do you just believe whatever the MSM says?

      > just believe whatever the MSM says

      That's an automatic Flamebait mod.
Wanna guess how many countries and languages I read news from?

      > The fence is not on the border, it is inside the border, on the Israeli side.

5 minutes of googling finds multiple statements that the buffer zone, up to 300m wide, is on the Gaza side of the armistice line. The high-tech fence may be near, but the front row of barbed wires is definitely deep in palestinian territory. Why would Israel lose land for that, anyway?
      Therefore my point stands.

      > Hamas even is paying Palestinians who are shot by the IDF

Hey, that's better than getting shot in a Texas school, where you do get the $50000 bill from the hospital !
Doesn't the US government or the states provide financial relief to Americans affected by tragedies ? Like Hamas, though, it seems to be always not quite enough to offset the income of a dead family member. As if it wasn't quite worth dying for a few hundred bucks! Go figure...

"Wah, wah, you insulted the MSM!"

I'm guessing few, because you are ignorant. It doesn't matter though, since you are ignorant.

And my sources say the opposite. Therefore my point stands.

How about addressing the point that one side is supposedly trying to break through the border (in reality, paying people to get shot to put on a show for the gullible people like yourself), burning tires, flying kites with molotov cocktails into Israeli territory? That point is conveniently absent from all of your propaganda.

Non-sequitur, anyone? Red herring, anyone? WTF does that have to do with this???

You fool! Hamas is not paying innocent victims--they are paying people to get shot! Just like they have old men and children lie on cots which get carried around in front of cameras, after which they stand up and cheerfully walk away unscathed.

Are you so gullible, or just a liar?
