A judge has proposed a nationwide programme to file down the points of kitchen knives as a solution to the country’s soaring knife crime epidemic.
Last week in his valedictory address, retiring Luton Crown Court Judge Nic Madge spoke of his concern that carrying a knife had become routine in some circles and called on the Government to ban the sale of large pointed kitchen knives.

Glasgow traditionally had massive knife crime. [theguardian.com] My generation carried knives - I used a 6" survival knife on camping weekends from the age of about 9. This latest stab-fest is entirely down to elevated violence introduced into black communities by Somali and Congolese migrants.

That's not what he said. He said there wasn't a "crime problem", i.e. there was only a regular level of crime.
Of course all crime is a problem, but that's not how the term "a crime problem" is used.

However, in Finland, the change in crime with the change in demographics has been **ENORMOUS** (yes, that level of emphasis is needed). When I first lived there in the early 90s, it wouldn't be too extreme to say that there was no crime. Even minor things were front page headlines. For some types of violent crime, rates have gone up by well over an order of magnitude. Where I used to live, Espoo, a year without any reported rapes used to be an unexceptional thing, now a month without one would be unusual. And yes, the perpetrators do reinforce the stereotypes.
Strangely, though, as the non-violent crimes of vandalism and graffiti rose at the same time, from just observing he environs, and the people within it, I became 100% sure that it was Finns who were behind this increase, not the immigrants. They were all angry young males at that, and presumably they were angry at the increased immigration, because reasons.

I don't know how it works in the UK, but at least in the US the immigrants in question are eligible for no welfare benefits whatsoever.

Officially. Unofficially, meaning in the real world, in most places where illegals congregate it is illegal to ask an applicant's immigration status so they get the full panoply of welfare state benefits. Then they often buy a second fake ID and dip again using a co-conspirator's address.. as someone there uses their address for their second helping. Then they squat out an anchor baby and it legally gets everything, including the EITC bonanza because now they will report just enough of their income to qualify for the max payout.
Illegals almost never produce as much economic benefit as they cost in total welfare benefits. Businesses hiring illegals are simply transferring that cost to the taxpayers. We should therefore tax the hiring of an illegal at a rate sufficient to recapture that expense and turn the IRS loose on any who refuse to pay up. If a business really can pay an $8-12/hr tax on illegal labor then perhaps it really is a job Americans won't do vs what we have now, jobs we won't allow Americans to do because of minimum wage and other laws plus the welfare state discouraging work.

Nitpick, the initial Celtic migrations were late Bronze Age, that is, assuming you can get them to make their minds up as to what actually constitutes a Celt in the first place (culture vs genetics).
