The government has been told to "up its game" over plans to guarantee a minimum internet speed for all broadband users. Peers said the current Universal Service Obligation (USO), which will entitle consumers to a minimum internet speed of 10Mbps, was "unambitious".

But the government said the USO was a "safety net" and it had "much greater ambitions". "The USO has an important part to play in ensuring that no-one is left behind," it added.

Labour spokesman Lord Stevenson of Balmacara opened the debate by saying the House had previously asked for the USO to specify a download speed of 30Mbps, but the general election halted work on the issue. He said the current USO plans contradict other government initiatives. "Surely the architecture of the USO has to be consistent with the government's productivity plan, the industrial strategy and the national infrastructure plan."

"The argument is that without some ambition the USO itself may become a constraint on all these important challenges," he said.

Not me, I never wanted to be President. I was always the best athlete. Something that nobody knew about me. I was the best baseball player in New York when I was young. I played first base and I also played catcher. I was a good hitter. But I was good in other sports too. I was good in wresting, I was very good at football. I was always the best at sports. I just had a good time. But I also knew that it was very limited, because in those days you couldn’t even make a lot of money playing baseball. Everybody wanted me to be a baseball player. I was captain of the baseball team. I was supposed to be a professional baseball player. Fortunately, I decided to go into real estate instead. But I didn't give up the sports. WWE, I DECIMATED Vince McMahon, you can see the "tape" on YouTube. And sometimes I play golf. Nothing like Obama, he was hitting the links every day. Instead of doing his job. But my handicap is much lower than his, only 2.8.

And Jesse Ventura, great wrestler, also a magnificent politician. Who was with the Reform Party at the time. He says to me, "Donald, we're going to need a President. The Democrats have terrible people, the Republicans have terrible people. And I'm busy being Governor. So I'm begging you to be our candidate." And I told him "yes." Because Bill Clinton was a great friend of mine, great golfer (not as good as me), great game with the ladies (not as good as me). But he wasn't a great President. Banks out of control, stock markets very overpriced, radical Islamic terrorists attacking left and right. Our Country was in serious trouble and it needed me. Unfortunately it didn't work out, I left the race because our party had some big problems. Named David Duke, Pat Buchanan and Lenora Fulani. So we got Bush Jr. and he brought big problems for our Country!!!!

It's amazing that you were able to be such a fantastic athlete with those bone spurs in your foot. Very Inspiring.

They were in both feet, they really hit hard when I was 21. Over a period of time, it healed up. You know, it was difficult from the long-term walking standpoint.
