Satellites monitoring the state of the White Continent indicate some 200 billion tonnes a year are now being lost to the ocean as a result of melting.

This is pushing up global sea levels by 0.6mm annually - a three-fold increase since 2012 when the last such assessment was undertaken.

Scientists report the new numbers in the journal Nature.

Governments will need to take account of the information and its accelerating trend as they plan future defences to protect low-lying coastal communities.

The researchers say the losses are occurring predominantly in the West of the continent, where warm waters are getting under and melting the fronts of glaciers that terminate in the ocean.

Climate change isn't a myth. It happens all the time.
    The main questions are:
      - "How much are humans responsible for it?"
      - "Is it a good or bad thing?"
      - "What can we do about it if it is a bad thing?".

Where 'denialists' differ from 'alarmists' is that 'denialists' are ready to consider these questions, whereas 'alarmists' see these questions as an attack on their religion and/or gravy train.

    Sorry, but no.

"Denialists" are not asking "How much are humans responsible for it?", they are denying that humans have any significant responsibility for it.

Don't you remember their hero (Trump) proclaiming that climate change is a haox perpetrated by China?

That question of human responsibility for climate change has already been answered.

I love how baldfaced of an attempt that was to redefine the word "denial."

      That move is doubleplusungood.

It is amusing to see the deniers slowly trying to sneak back to reason without saying "we fucked up, it is real."

I guess whatever gets humanity on track to a better future. Just annoying to have to coddle the feelz of people who love saying "realz before feelz" and "red pill".

Well, I don't think that the current climate change is a problem. I also don't think that a CO2 level of 600 ppm is a problem. The biosphere was quite happy back when it was 6000 ppm. By the rules of your religion, since I am not an 'Alarmist', I must be a 'Denialist'.
And I am asking, "How much of the recent warming was due to human released CO2? Is it a good or bad thing and what should we do about it either way?"

That question of human responsibility for climate change has already been answered.

      Really? What was the answer?

O.T. I don't know why you brought up Trump, but he is not my hero. The best I can say about him is that I think Hillary would have been worse. I am not in the U.S.A. and if I was, I would have voted third party.

It is a bad thing if you like stability and food. Humanity has pumped a huuuuge amount of CO2 into the atmosphere so the exact numbers aren't that important. 10% or 90% responsible we still shouldn't burn coal/oil/gas if we can help it.

Suck it up, admit you've been wrong, move forward with renewable energy sources that don't give us as many health problems.

Cool story bro. Any reason, or just feelz?

There's some whacky science guy who lists a few reasons why he thinks it it a problem (Agriculture, Health, Polar Melting, Ocean Acidification, Melting Glaciers, Sea Level Rise, etc.) but not feelz unfortunately. But it's just, like, his opinion man.
