Several sites are reporting, without reference to IBM's activities 70 years ago, that Microsoft's contact with ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is drawing fire online. The Computer Business Review includes a quote from Microsoft now missing from their press release:
"ICE's decision to accelerate IT modernization using Azure Government will help them innovate faster while reducing the burden of legacy IT. The agency is currently implementing transformative technologies for homeland security and public safety, and we're proud to support this work with our mission-critical cloud," he wrote.
KUOW radio writes on their web site that Microsoft is facing outrage their for blog post touting ICE contract:
As outrage grew online, a Microsoft employee quietly removed mention of ICE from the January press release this morning. Social media users noticed that, too. The company has since restored the press release's original language, and called its removal a "mistake."
After a little bit of conference swag gets handed out and a few advertising contracts^W^Wscholarships get handed out, this will all blow over and be forgotten.

First, ICE needs to be abolished. It is a big government agency designed to be abused, and it's completely out of control. There is absolutely no need for ICE and there was no need for ICE when it was created in 2003 during the panic after 9/11.
Second, when this shit with the kiddie internment camps is over, there needs to be Nuremberg-style trials, for everyone from the people at the top making the policies right down to the individual ICE agents who are "only following orders".
I'm confident there will be a reckoning for this Nazi shit. We now have a rogue president who believes he is above the law and he's following Hitler's playbook to the letter, implementing white supremacist ethnic cleansing policies to try to consolidate his power base of uneducated white men. If we wait for people to be put to death, it will be too late.

Illegal immigration is a crime
Kidnapping is also a crime.
How about we deport these criminals without becoming criminals ourselves in the process?

I bet someone there recognizes that if ICE uses Microsoft services, the (trivially hidden) introduced friction would hobble or delay them at least a little in implementing this horror. In line with your Nazi analogy, maybe it's preferable to the terrifying cost/perfomance efficiency and reliability they could get using a proper OS and toolset?
