From Raw Story

The National Park Service has approved an application for a year anniversary commemoration of Charlottesville's violent white supremacist rally to be held in Washington, DC.

DC's WUSA9 reported that NPS approved the application but has not yet issued permits for the rally set to be held at Lafayette Square, a seven-acre park just north of the White House. The event is to be organized by Jason Kessler, the organizer of the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville where 32-year-old Heather Heyer was hit and killed by an alleged white supremacist.

"This year we have a new purpose," Kessler said, discussing the upcoming rally. "That's to talk about the civil rights abuse that happened in Charlottesville, Virginia last year."

Kessler claimed it wasn't his fault that "that stuff happened," and said that in the months since the rally ostensibly intended to "defend" a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee, "white civil rights" have taken a hit.

"We're not able to peacefully assemble. We're not able to speak," he told WUSA. "I keep telling people if your right to rally and your right to protest means that someone else's life might be in danger, then it is no longer free speech but it is hate speech."

While I largely agree with you I'd also say the weaponisation of identity politics is at least partly to blame for this. The Democrats for instance have implemented some pretty horrendous policies that directly attacked the financial stability of working class Americans, and did it under a shield of identity (eg. Hillary and Obama) so they could appear progressive. The progressive left call them "rainbow flag republicans". I can see how those people directly attacked by these policies might become more prone to expouse certain anti-women/black/muslim/lgbt etc... views. Granted, they're completely incorrect - those politicians are often also financially betraying their own gender/race/identity, not to mention the secondary side effect of angering a working class who (with the help of media) are being directed into blaming the identities these politicians belong to. There is a segment of the left which felt Trump wasn't necessarily a bad thing because at least he put an ugly face on his policies - those policies being more consistent with the norm than many Democrat loyalists would like to admit.

This is some pretty deeply ingrained bullshit that has gotten into your mind!

The Democrats for instance have implemented some pretty horrendous policies that directly attacked the financial stability of working class Americans,

You mean, like, passing "right to work" legislation, stacking the National Labor Relations Board, Moving all your capital over-seas for cheap labor, extorting bribes and tax holidays from local and regional governments? Sorry, it has been the Republican party that has directly attacked the financial stability of the working class, not the Democrats. But like Trump's "wall", they convinced idiots that it was the Dems, 'cause Obama is Black! Oh, the horror!!

      Obama isn't black. He's brown.

Yes, yes, YES! That "right to work" legislation? You should try living in a "right to work" state! You have the right to work, but you have no right to expect a decent wage. THAT is what "right to work" is all about. Of course, today, the new catch phrase is "at will". So long as you are willing to work, the employer may or may not be willing to pay you. The moment he no longer wishes to pay you, your ass is out the door.

Thank you, Southern Democrats, for all your shitty "right to work" legislation! Thanks to you, no employee ever has job security. Only management has anything that resembles security.

Clinton fucked the poor over horrendously with the one-two punch of NAFTA and "welfare reform." I'm gonna buy a day pass to Hell, a bag of marshmallows, and a stick, and I'm gonna visit him and his neoliberal buddies and spend some time roasting said marshmallows over them, when this is all over. Fact is, the working class and the poor have not had a mainstream candidate on their side since the 70s if not before. We needed McGovern. We got Nixon. And it all went to shit from there.

Pssh. "All that hate inside me." Coming from you, this is a bit like David Duke telling people to lay off the racism. Your attempts to claim the moral high ground don't work when you've dug yourself so low you have to look up to see an earthworm's asshole and salute it as it goes by.
