North Korea has continued to upgrade its only known nuclear reactor used to fuel its weapons program, satellite imagery has shown, despite ongoing negotiations with the US and a pledge to denuclearise.

Infrastructure improvements at the Yongbyon nuclear plant are "continuing at a rapid pace", according to an analysis by monitoring group 38 North of commercial satellite images taken on 21 June.

The cooling system for the plutonium production reactor has been modified and at least two new non-industrial buildings have been built on the site, possibly for use by visiting officials. A new engineering office building has been completed and construction has continued on support facilities throughout the complex, according to a blog post written by Frank V Pabian, Joseph S Bermudez Jr and Jack Liu.

"Infrastructure improvements continue at Yongbyon," Jenny Town, managing editor of 38 North, wrote on Twitter. "Underscores reason why an actual deal is necessary, not just a statement of lofty goals."

I didn't read the article and only skimmed the summary. The dark side of my brain immediately presumed this was another push from Democrats/Democrat sympathizers for America to become even more war-hawkish, and that just made it all too tiresome to even bother with.

The weird thing, as much as I hate Trump, the incessant petulant harping on him by people who would stay totally silent, or go laudatory, if Obama did what Trump did, has caused me to have some sympathy for Trump. Honestly, if Trump woke up and shat out Cold Fusion technology that really worked, Democrats would put the Koch brothers and BP's CEO on their shoulders and lament the imminent demise of fossil fuels.

I have a similar attitude toward Trump. I've never liked him, not even a little bit. But, the rabid foaming at the mouth of Trump haters forces me to speak up for him now and then. These nutcases seem to be onboard with our attitudes - http://www.waltonandjohnson.com/listen_live.html [waltonandjohnson.com]

During the election, they badmouthed all of the Republican candidates, and also badmouthed Hillary. But, they were routinely accused of supporting Trump, just because they disapproved of Hillary.

That old thing, "If you're not with us, you're against us" has been carried to extremes by the CTRL-Left.

Wow. Nice how you left out the alt-right who take that beyond the extreme to make the left look entirely benign by comparison.

You are fucking insane to believe such shit. Stop watching fucking Fox propaganda channel.

Where were you when Republicans were harping on Obama while there wasn't even a fucking reason for it? Obama didn't shit on our allies. Didn't say NATO was "obsolete". Didn't start trade wars - remember TPP, the deal that was suppose to put pressure on China .... well, instead of that we have China-TPP with US isolated... if there was one thing that Obama fucked up on is telling people "we'll be ok".

And don't get me started on "wait until election for supreme court vote" vs. "change rules and fuck election". Republicans have gone RealPolitik and they don't give a fuck about any principles anymore.

America to become even more war-hawkish,

Yeah, because Bolton is a very dovish advisor right fucking there. Wake the fuck up.

Just off the top of my head, Obama:

      • excused torturers
      • expanded Bush's 2 wars to 7
      • tripled the max number of troops in Afghanistan to 3x GWB's max
      • ran out of bombs in 2016
      • handicapped the War Powers Act with the war in Libya
      • deporter in chief
      • eased regulations on offshore drilling platforms about 2 months before the gulf disaster
      • played the same games with Plan B that GWB did, by letting some admin major overrule the FDA's Harvard educated MD
      • sold out the public option in favor of a warmed over version of a health plan largely similar to that which Nixon proposed.
      • mass surveillance
      • 3 or 4x as many prosecutions under the Espionage Act as all other presidents combined.
      • proposing to "close" GITMO by _moving_ the practice to a Fed Supermax in Illinois, as opposed to ending the fucking practice period.
      • proposing a grand bargain on Social Security, Cat Food Commission -- thank goodness the GOP wouldn't accept his ideas, even when they were GOP ideas.
      • made permanent something like 80% of the GWB tax cuts.

Obama was a GOP wet dream.

Right, all the things that liberals didn't like so conservatives just went all racist and birther. You kinda proved the point, conservatives didn't hate on Obama because of his policies, and apparently they are too far gone to understand what freedom should be like.

Basically, we are lucky that only thing standing between Obama and ever more draconian right wing policy, was right wing racism. Don't you think it is sad that we need racism to prevent Democrats from being insanely evil? Don't you think it nuts that the Democrat reaction to Trump is to be excessive warmongers and hawks (*)? Dems give him more military budget than he asks for, hound him whenever he isn't bombing Syria enough, loathe him for attempting to reduce tensions with NK, want to get into war with Russia.

Let's be clear, the GOP sucks, but it is also true that Democrats are no better than the GOP in any way that matters. The Dems do excel at the marketing themselves as progressive peaceniks who care, but that's basically like a Lucky Strike ad from the 50s -- toasted and healthy. Fuck advertising. Fuck DNC.

(*) Except the entirety of the Obama administration demonstrated that really, Democrats ARE warmongering hawks.
