In a legal setback for the Trump administration's immigration policies, a federal judge in Washington, D.C., has ruled that the government may not arbitrarily detain people seeking asylum.

The ruling comes in a case challenging the administration's policy of detaining people even after they have passed a credible fear interview and await a hearing on their asylum claim.

The lead plaintiff in the case is a teacher from Haiti, Ansly Damus, who has been confined in Ohio for more than a year-and-a-half. He fled his homeland fearing violence and political persecution and asked for asylum in the United States. An immigration judge granted him asylum not just once, but twice. But Damus remains locked up indefinitely as the government appeals those decisions.

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, in his 38-page opinion, said that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement violated its own procedures by not granting Damus release under what's known as humanitarian parole.

"This Opinion does no more than hold the Government accountable to its own policy, which recently has been honored more in the breach than the observance. Having extended the safeguards of the Parole Directive to asylum seekers, ICE must now ensure that such protections are realized," Judge Boasberg wrote.

They clearly think the balance of evidence is too low for a judge to be granting asylum in this case. From what we know of the situation, I agree with them.

Citation? No where in the article does it say anything along those lines, and pardon me if I don't take the word of ICE officers over that of a judge. You WISH it was projection and you should probably look into what "projection" actually is because you are using it wrong.

Hatred and fear, nice platform for life you've chosen.

That's easily deduced from the series of events.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Assuage my ego? I'm not invested in this discussion, just calling out your bullshit for what it is. I will admit that it was a statement based on assumptions of your own personal beliefs based on how you're reacting to this immigration story. You got profiled into the general "conservative" category of brainwashed fools believing insane propaganda about immigration.

You can tell who the real fascists are because they not only abuse the law for their own purposes but they also will ignore the rule of law when it goes against their personal beliefs. Basically people such as Trump (like yourself apparently) will use the law as a defense when it suits their purposes, but then use shitty arguments when the law doesn't go their way. Judges are there precisely to rule on cases like this, and ICE agents are primarily brainwashed assholes who think patrolling the border is closer to warfare. Maybe you are not an actual fascist, hard to say from two posts, but there are a LOT of actual fascists in the US and no they don't call themselves antifa.

Amusing how you continue to use the same response to everything you don't like. Maybe try reading that link? Or perhaps your brain is just broken and can't see its own inconsistencies. Ah well, this discussion is dumb and you fools have no power to make your delusions reality.
