The web browser extension "Stylish" steals all your browsing history. The change happened after the project had been sold several times and the latest set of owners have supplemented the otherwise very useful code with surveillance capabilities start around January 2017. Currently it aggregates profiles on its users based on their complete browsing activities. The extension's user base had been about 2 million prior to this news.

Before it became a covert surveillance tool disguised as an outstanding browser extension, Stylish really was an outstanding browser extension.

[...] Unfortunately, since January 2017, Stylish has been augmented with bonus spyware that records every single website that I and its 2 million other users visit.

[Both Google and Mozilla have blocked Stylish as an extension at this point. An alternative extension Stylus was created from the last known version of the extension from the original author. -Ed]

[Update: 20180706_115313 UTC] Per a comment to this story, there is a replacement for stylish available for Pale Moon:

Stylus fork mentioned in TFS is a WebExtension, and old versions of Stylish were also taken down, so finding and installing it would require manual intervention, and searching for last-known-good version.

Luckily, one of the Pale Moon developers created a compatible XUL-based fork, Stylem [palemoon.org] (release thread [palemoon.org]). It directly imports all Stylish userstyles, so just disable Stylish, enable Stylem, restart browser, and that's it. Worked without a hitch.

NCommander and matt_ both hold an equal number of shares in the PBC. The staff and the board decided way back when to issue shares to our two major debt holders rather than keep debt on the books. Not that the outstanding shares mean a whole lot, mind you. The board currently consists only of NCommander and matt_ since mrcoolbp resigned for personal reasons last year. So the shareholders aren't exactly going to be bossing the board around.

All of that except mrcoolbp resigning was public knowledge. We were going to try to fill the empty seat and then announce the change but nobody on staff could be convinced, browbeaten, or tortured into agreeing to take it. Then we got sidetracked and forgot.

So, yeah, we're technically obligated to please our shareholders. But since our shareholders are also the board and NCommander is also the COO (read as: gets the final say on coding, admining, and site vision), we've been doing that all along.

All that aside... we primarily have to please the community on account of not having folks willing to pay the current bills would be a bad thing. Especially me though, cause I'll fucking riot [youtube.com] if we get our priorities out of whack.

The board should vote you a raise. Would 200% be adequate?

Isn't *after* he implements the "super-mega-ultra tracking system for SN" a more appropriate moment to talk about raises?

yes, I realize that 200% raise lets him the same, but I wouldn't want to encourage him feeling more entitled than he is now.

TMB and I don't always agree on polyticks, but we're both fishermen so like some of my other IRL fishing buddies, we can jost each other over over how the country should be run and still have a great time fishing.
