Almost a year has passed since the last minor update of KiCad, the most popular FLOSS application for schematic and circuit board design. Now the KiCad development team has presented the new and improved KiCad 5.0 release: http://kicad-pcb.org/blog/2018/07/KiCad-5--a-new-generation/. In addition to a good number of improvements to the application itself, the often criticized part libraries have been completely overhauled. KiCad binaries will be available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

No, they haven't. There's a ton of idiots who just refuse to leave Eagle no matter what. They'll bitch and complain about the subscription model and rising costs, but they won't change. "All my files are in Eagle format!" "I'm used to the Eagle UI!!"

I really need to start a business where I make something to get people hooked, and then jack up the price continually with a subscription model so people are forced to continue spending more and more money to keep using my stuff. Obviously, this is a winning business strategy in many industry sectors because people are too lazy and stupid to jump ship when better, cheaper alternatives appear and their current choice is getting worse.
