North Korea continuing nuclear programme - UN report

North Korea has not stopped its nuclear and missile programmes, violating UN sanctions, a report commissioned by the UN Security Council says. It also says Pyongyang has resorted to a "massive increase" of illegal ship-to-ship transfers of oil products and has been trying to sell weapons abroad.

The confidential report by a panel of independent experts was submitted to the UN Security Council on Friday. North Korea has so far not commented on the document's findings.

Last week, US officials said Pyongyang appeared to be building new ballistic missiles despite recent warming ties with US President Donald Trump's administration and pledges to denuclearise. Unnamed US officials told the Washington Post that spy satellites had spotted continuing activity at a site that has produced ballistic missiles.

You are blathering mindlessly again. While I am dismissive of some alarmist claims about NK nuclear capabilities, your statement that "There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea." is just empty headed babbling.

I know Trump supporters claiming that Trump took all the nukes away from NK. I can't fathom how they can hold that opinion aside from a combination of they want it to be true and they absolutely didn't ever bother to look up a single thing about it at all.

Having a problem with reality is kind of their thing though.

I'm here to deliver a message of hope and vision, and a message of peace. I want to thank Chairman Kim for taking the first bold step toward a bright new future for his people. Our unprecedented meeting -- the first between an American President and a leader of North Korea -- proves that real change is indeed possible. My meeting with Chairman Kim was honest, direct, and productive -- an interesting and VERY POSITIVE experience. We got to know each other well in a very confined period of time, under very strong, STRONG CIRCUMSTANCE. We’re prepared to start a new history and we’re ready to write a new chapter between our nations.

Nearly 70 years ago -- think of that, 70 years ago, it's a really long time -- an extremely bloody conflict ravaged the Korean Peninsula. Countless people died in the conflict, including tens of thousands of brave Americans. Yet, while the armistice was agreed to, the war never ended. To this day, never ended. But now we can all have hope that it will soon end. And it will. It will soon end.

The past does not have to define the future. Yesterday’s conflict does not have to be tomorrow’s war. And as history has proven over and over again, adversaries can indeed become friends. We can honor the sacrifice of our forefathers by replacing the horrors of battle with the blessings of peace. And that’s what we’re doing and that’s what we have done.

North Korea has great potential for the future! There is no limit to what North Korea can achieve when it gives up its nuclear weapons and embraces commerce and engagement with the rest of the world -- that really wants to engage. Chairman Kim has the chance to seize an incredible future for his people. Anyone can make war, but only the most courageous can make peace.

There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea, but this is the beginning of an arduous process. Our eyes are wide open, but peace is always worth the effort, especially in this case. This should have been done years ago. This should have been resolved a long time ago, but we’re resolving it now. Before taking office, people were assuming that we were going to War with North Korea. President Obama said that North Korea was our BIGGEST AND MOST DANGEROUS problem.
