China's population is big -- 1.4 billion big -- and its internet user population is creeping toward similar heights.

A government department called the China Internet Network Information Center ran a report to find out just how many citizens were jumping online. The result was 802 million, and the agency estimates that 29.68 million of those people came online only recently, in the first half of this year, as pointed out by Bloomberg.

This is the first time China's internet using population has crossed the 800 million mark, according to the report. For perspective, that number is greater than the internet populations of Japan, Russia and the US combined.

Science could not even begin to explain it; its attempts to do so had been nothing short of pathetic. Even the world's most renowned scientists, who had conducted numerous rigorous octuple-blind studies in an attempt to solve this cryptic puzzle, had utterly failed. "It," of course, referred to 'The Phenomenon'.

It had all started with a certain man, who was affectionately nicknamed 'Subject X' by researchers. X would enter a room with women and/or children and close the door behind him. Then, and only then, would the screams begin. Oh, they were screams that could easily damage one's eardrums. They screamed and they screamed and they screamed. This screaming would eventually be accompanied by moaning, sounds of objects breaking, and numerous slamming sounds. This could go on anywhere from several minutes to over an hour. The ending was the same every time: X would come out of the room looking refreshed, and then leave. What was interesting was what X left behind, however: A room stained with blood and feces; a room filled with the naked corpses of women and children; and a room that was the very embodiment of silence.

That was the true nature of 'The Phenomenon', which scientists struggled to explain. Where had the women and children gone? Where did the corpses come from? Where did the blood and feces originate from? How did that man - that great man - manage to create a space in which the concept of sound was foreign to it? These questions had no answers. And, to make matters even more puzzling, The Phenomenon would only occur if X was the only man in the room. Baffling.

Would scientists ever solve this seemingly unsolvable riddle? Most would answer, "No." What scientists did understand, however, was that the event known as The Phenomenon was immensely beneficial to the endless war for men's rights.
