Hundreds dead as quake, tsunami hit Indonesia's Sulawesi

Nearly 400 people have been killed after a powerful earthquake triggered a tsunami that hit Indonesia's central Sulawesi island.

The national disaster agency put the current death toll at 384, all of them reported in the tsunami-struck city of Palu, but warned the number was likely to rise as rescue efforts continued on Saturday.

In Palu - home to around 350,000 people - partially covered bodies lay on the ground near the shore, the day after tsunami waves triggered by a 7.5 magnitude earthquake came ashore.

[...] Indonesia's meteorological and geophysics agency BMKG issued a tsunami warning after the earthquake, but lifted it 34 minutes later. The agency was widely criticised for not informing a tsunami had hit Palu on Saturday, though officials said waves had come within the time the warning was issued. The Palu area was hit by a less powerful quake earlier on Friday, which destroyed some houses, killed one person and injured at least 10 in Donggala, authorities said.

Son of a mother fucking shit that ABC site is retarded!

First of all, why it is so important that these kids were having bibles shoves up their assholes. They were probably glad they were getting killed. So what about the other 1166 people? Were they worthless stenking atheists or something?

Also... just had to click on that ABC link to see if there were any other reported facts to rant over, but popover auto-playing video? WTF? (Palemoon if it does different for others) If you want to be a video site, fine, just drop the printed content. Some of us want to READ. IF you want to offer an embedded video that we can chose to click on, then fine, but otherwise fuck you. Might as well just link us to a site that auto-installs malware. Not to mention it is one of those stupid sites that the page auto-grows to infinity as you scroll down (such fun if I wanted to print that!). And and caught an equally retarded headline "Fitbit saves woman's life", yea no shilling advertising click bait going on here at all. So I'm guessing they get $$$ from fitbit and religitards.

The bodies of at least 34 children have been discovered inside a church in a remote northern region of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi following Friday’s devastating magnitude-7.4 earthquake and ensuing tsunami, a spokesperson for the Indonesian Red Cross told reporters.

They are just adding to a climbing death toll. Nothing to rant about there.

ABC has been that way with the obnoxious autoplay videos for a long time now. One of the worst sites for that. It's why I avoid them.

But there's another option. With the right option set, Firefox is pretty good at not playing video. That option ought to be in the settings menu, but they make you dig for it. It's media.autoplay.enabled in the prefs. I have had less luck with the equivalents in Chrome-- Chrome will still automatically play some video no matter how much you tell it not to.

Popovers? My Palemoon didn't do that. If you've gone to the bother of installing Palemoon, but you've never configured it, or installed any addons, I wonder why you bothered with Palemoon. I don't see advertising, popups, popunders, popovers, or anything of the sort.

I have one instance of Chromium, which I installed out of curiosity. I haven't spent the time to make it "secure". It's pretty shitty - Youtube, for instance, is awash in various advertising if I use that Chromium. Other versions of Chromium don't do that - I've "fixed" them.

Installing a lesser known version of a browser is only the first step in making your browser act like YOU want it to.
