Brett Kavanaugh has been confirmed as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. The vote was 50-48 in favor of Kavanaugh.
Senators Collins, Flake, and Manchin had already announced their intentions to confirm Kavanaugh before the vote was held. Senator Lisa Murkowski, who was previously ready to vote "no", agreed to vote "present" instead so that Senator Steve Daines could attend his daughter's wedding instead of being present in the Senate to support Kavanaugh.

I've asked you before: Do you REALLY want to see a civil war? It won't go as you expect. One of the first lessons learned by people who study war is, the first casualty in any battle is the battle plan.
Someone like me, or like Buzzard, might just shoot EVERYONE who claims to be either D or R. They all deserve it. Nothing of consequence would be lost. The only survivors are Independent, and third party. That way, we could sit back and watch as a whole new corrupt government evolved.

Alright then -
A civil war will be uglier than most liberals have ever dreamed. Maybe uglier than the war-happy conservative capitalists have dreamed, as well.
But, it might be better than allowing the progressives to have control. The so-called left is hardly any more left than the R's are, but they are strongly into authoritarianism. That left makes me look silly as hell with my claims of being an authoritarian. The REAL difference between me, and them, is the legitimacy of authority. If I recognize an authority as being legitimate, then I respect it. If I don't recognize an authority as legitimate, I fight it.
Your left wants to create it's own authority by force. There is no legitimacy to either the force, or the authority which they desire. None.
But, if the right stands by, and watches the "left" proceed, it's possible that the progressives could win. Chances are slim, but the possibility exists.
Yes, I'd rather see twenty million dead liberals lying in the streets, than to see their progressive heros taking over this country. And, I'll willingly sacrifice five million dead conservatives and independents to put a stop to the progressives.
The tree of life must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots, from time to time.
And, welcome to reality, where most important decisions by nations are settled by force. As it has been for tens of thousands of years, so it will be for tens of thousands of years into the future.
Have you ever considered the dystopias portrayed in much of science fiction? Have you never imagined one of those dystopias, in which death is preferable to living? The dystopia being offered to us by the progressives is one in which a child can be punished, and branded for life, if he so much as notices that his own skin is not the same color as that of his teacher, or one of his class mates. In this computer age, any "deviant" behaviour will be documented, put into a database, and NEVER forgotten.
Progressives promise a number of things, which I fear, and despise, with their racial inequality ranking high. "People of color" vs "white and Asian". It's already real, it has made it into headlines. Follow that to it's logical conclusion - if you're brown, or black, you get a leg up in education, employment, in everything. If you're white, or Asian, you get shit on, and you're lucky if you can ever get a job cleaning septic tanks, or collecting garbage.
The party, as well as the progressives, have forgotten Martin Luther King, who had a dream. They've abandoned his dream. Today, they don't want equality, they want vengeance.
And, I, for one, am not willing that my grandchildren should be cast into some third-rate citizen role, to make those brown or black people happy. I side with King - my great grandchildren should compete with black, white, brown, and Asian for their place in life. And, the best man/woman for the job should win the job.
Political correctness? I've fought that bullshit since I first heard of it. It was a Soviet construction - if you were in good graces with the party, then you were politically correct. Fuck PC. Seriously, just fuck PC. Progressives promise to enslave my descendants, at the expense of brown and black people. Just fuck them.
Twenty million dead progressives? Make it fifty million - it's all the same to me. A future with slavery in it looks pretty damned bleak, no matter whether it's my descendants, or yours, or whoever's. We had a war, ~150 years ago, over a number of issues, including slavery. Today, "liberals" want to go back and explore slavery. Kill 'em all, and let God sort them out.

First of all, and I've said this many times before, based on several friends' past-life experience including my own girlfriend's, Hell is not eternal. Not even close. It lasts as long as it has to, and is as horrible as it has to be, for people to repay the balance of what they've done and then reincarnate in a form that will allow them to learn the lessons they need, as simply suffering doesn't teach you much of anything. Actually, "Hell" is a very loaded term for it and a rather poor one, much as "God" does not even begin to describe the...hm, how do I put this, this All-Existence I tend to refer to as (The) Source. It's just convenient terminology for a largely Christian or Christianized milieu. The map is not the territory. Consider the phrase "Myself, am Hell" from Paradise Lost; that sums it up nicely. When I speak of facing one's inner demons I mean it very literally.
Second, there you go with the identity politics again. I have no problem with "straight white Christian males" in vacuum; what I have a problem with is how all too many of them act. My problem with you is that you're an asshole, and frankly, I have my doubts about you actually being straight (but that's neither here nor there...).
Third: As I've ALSO said before, I'm an independent. I'm just well-read enough in history to know what happens when people like you get in power or get the sort of policy you like passed. Which of us is bitching about race here? YOU, not me. Your entire rant boils down to "Brown people are getting stuff I don't think they deserve" with a heaping helping of overheated whinging about how your grandchildren will be slaves to them.

I have never experienced a civil war personally, but I imagine the immediate precursor is a fever pitch that looks like this.
The difficult thing about this one that's brewing is that it will be tough to figure out who's on which side. North vs. South was pretty clearly geographically delineated. They had Copperheads and that sort of thing, but mostly it was clear. This is going to be worse than Yugoslavia, where everyone was mixed up together.
I have half a mind to propose an Ask Soylent about how we get through it all. Do we set up a ham radio system, mesh networks, evacuation routes with supply caches, safe houses?

For now look to darknets. Stay away from major cities, and keep a bug-out bag stocked, ready, and with you at all times. Make sure you already know where you will evacuate to with your loved ones and how you will get there without relying on major highways. Make sure to rotate any canned foods you've stocked up so that if it's still five years until we run out of gas on the side of the road, you don't find that your stores have gone bad. Ham radio operators are important, but they will not become crucial until after N-day.

I wish I could PM you somehow, but since you insist on posting AC...it's fairly clear we've just passed a major inflection point in the timeline with this nomination. I'm not using any fancy equipment or anything to determine this; I've simply got well-tuned wetware. A number of possible futures have been irrevocably shunted off into the Dirac Sea, so to speak, and a few have suddenly become more likely.
Given this, what do you think is going to happen over the next couple of years? When is "N-Day" appearing in your probability calculus, what sets it off, and where does it begin?

The timing is important. When things get moving it would of course be best to be far away from large cities. In the meantime, the large cities are where the jobs are that pay well enough to support a family. So does everyone leave the cities now and scratch out a living in the Rockies on a survivalist's compound for 5 years until chaos ensues, or should everyone hang tight for 4 years and lay down solid evac plans?

Avoid those zealots, even if you think you're on the "same side", because they will blame you for not supporting them. I know what my plan is to get out of NYC. We rather had three dry runs in 9/11, the Northeast blackout of 2003, and the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy when all the gas stations ran dry. 15 million people can't go anywhere fast. Driving barely works on a regular day, much less when something big happens. Walking doesn't even work well, because with that many people you can't walk fast. It's a slow shuffle across the bridges and through the tunnels.
The only chance is to pick routes that wouldn't occur to others and try to get ahead of the human wave that will strip the surrounding communities bare. Even the best prepared and fittest, though, will be hard put to make it.
