Hackers breach HealthCare.gov system, get data on 75,000

A government computer system that interacts with HealthCare.gov was hacked earlier this month, compromising the sensitive personal data of some 75,000 people, officials said Friday.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services made the announcement late in the afternoon ahead of a weekend, a time slot agencies often use to release unfavorable developments.

Officials said the hacked system was shut down and technicians are working to restore it before sign-up season starts Nov. 1 for health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

About 10 million people currently have private coverage under former President Barack Obama's health care law.

Consumers applying for subsidized coverage have to provide extensive personal information, including Social Security numbers, income, and citizenship or legal immigration status.

The system that was hacked is used by insurance agents and brokers to directly enroll customers. All other sign-up systems are working.

The Libertarian Party usually has ballot access in all 50 states. The Green Party is usually something like 40-45-ish states.

Voting for the uniparty is madness. So people conclude that staying at home is the correct thing to do. Last I checked, nobody is waiting for voter turnout numbers to rise above a certain level before certifying the election. If only 1% of voters turn out and the rest throw away their vote and sit on their hands watching the horse race on TV because they see how awful the uniparty is and somehow conclude "3rd party is throwing away my vote!" guess what? Somebody from the uniparty will win.

(Well, I use hyperbole with the 1% figure. If uniparty turnout were actually that low, quite a few Libertarian candidates who consistently get 2-3% of the vote would win.)

So tell me, what's funnier: voting for the uniparty and hoping that this time there will be change, sitting at home kvetching about how bad the uniparty is, or voting for Libertarians and Greens?

    Democracy dies with a "meh."

exactly. people who vote two party are pitiful slaves. how more obvious can it get that they are both completely controlled. i'm not saying more parties will magically solve everything, but just having some "nut" in the debate makes the two whores from the dems and repubs have to answer(or hilariously ignore) some mighty uncomfortable questions, which may have the effect of waking the slaves. prior votes also gets more "nuts" on the ballots and in more debates meaning more choices and ideas.

also, it doesn't freaking matter if gary johnson is a complete jackass. he was never going to win. start worrying about whether the candidate is actually qualified when there are 4 parties in every debate and the nut you are considering voting for is actually threatening to win...otherwise, you're just making ridiculous excuses so you can vote like a coward again.

Slight nitpick. Gary Johnson was more qualified than Donald Trump. One of these men is a businessman with a proven track record of turning a profit. The other is a loudmouth idiot who's only rich thanks to daddy.

For the other two parties, Jill Stein, MD holds views that align far better with the American people as a whole and has a credible history of activism... compare to the right-wing candidate Killary and her superpredators.
