Ivanka Trump used personal email for official White House business

First daughter and presidential advisor Ivanka Trump used a personal email account dozens of times to conduct official White House business, The Washington Post reports, citing an internal White House investigation. It's an ironic revelation given her father's obsession with Hillary Clinton's own use of a private email server during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Federal law requires government officials to preserve written records of their activities—and that includes email. Government email systems are set up to comply with these laws, and federal IT guidelines require government officials to use their official email accounts for all official business. The use of official email accounts may also reduce the risk of sensitive communications being intercepted by foreign intelligence agencies.

[...] Ivanka Trump's use of a personal email account was discovered in September 2017. Ivanka said she was simply unfamiliar with rules requiring official business to be conducted via official email accounts—despite the fact that her father had made Hillary Clinton's violation of the same rules a central theme of his campaign.

Last year Politico reported that Ivanka Trump's husband, Jared Kusher, had been conducting official business using an email address on the same ijkfamily.com domain. But at the time it wasn't known if Ivanka was doing the same thing. We learned about Ivanka's use of the ijkfamily.com domain for government business last November, but until now we didn't know the extent of Ivanka's use of this activity.

    You forget,

Trump cozies up to Butcher of Arabia
Trump facilitates North Korea to built out its arsenal
Trump profits from its properties for personal business
Trump continues to ignore Global Warming
Trump's "policies" are risking American dominance in the world
Trump sends money to "caravan" and then smears them to gain votes

as for your "outrage", the judge was rather clear

“As laudable as the prohibition of a particular type of abuse of girls may be,” he wrote, prosecutors failed to show that the federal government had the authority to bring the charges, and he noted that regulating practices like this is essentially a state responsibility.

“Federalism concerns deprive Congress of the power to enact this statute,” Judge Friedman wrote. He added in the 28-page ruling, “Congress overstepped its bounds by legislating to prohibit FGM” because “FGM is a ‘local criminal activity’ which, in keeping with longstanding tradition and our federal system of government, is for the states to regulate, not Congress.”

“If there is an interstate market for FGM, why is this the first time the government has ever brought charges under this 1996 statute?” he wrote, adding “FGM cannot, by any stretch of the imagination, be classified as an economic or commercial activity.”

So why isn't it banned in the state??? And fuck you over your fake outrage. It's the same reason why murder is almost exclusively a *state* crime and federal laws lack jurisdiction. And why feds can't prosecute most murders or the charges would have been thrown out.

Assuming that the bastards doing it to little girls get paid, it is at least as much a matter of interstate commerce as growing and smoking your own weed.

The federalism angle surprised me there. Given that the Detroit Free Press article I linked up there mentions girls being brought into Michigan from out of state, I'm really not certain why the interstate commerce clause wasn't applied, as it is to justify federal cannabis prohibition. I'm a fan of federalism, but I'm left in confusion about how on earth something like an FGM ban violates federalism but prohibition against a harmless plant doesn't violate federalism! It's all just upside down.
