Dell melts in face of investor dissent, ups offer for Class V stock

Dell Technologies has upped the buy price for Class V stock to win support from shareholders that threatened to block the proposed transaction and hinder the company’s return to the US stock market.

The final per share offer is for $120 in cash, subject to an aggregate $14bn cap, or to swap each unit for between 1.5043 and 1.8130 shares of Class C stock in Dell when it lists again.

The previous $109 per share offer – on the table from July – was dismissed by some investors including corporate raider Carl Icahn, who has since vowed to stop the buy saying it low-balled their value and involved the lawyers.

[...] Class V stock, also known by its stock market ticker DVMT, was created in 2016 to help Dell fund its $67bn buy of EMC. It tracks Dell’s stake in VMware but, as the FT pointed out, the share swap alternative means it can be viewed as a proxy for the value of Dell.

Considering every Soylentitled Boomer has a stock heavy portfolio. Boomers will be buried with all of their money when they die so the shiftless millennials won't get a penny of it.

Selfish boomers are the entire reason we live in a crapsack world today.

I'm cutting out the middle man and just not making any more than I have a use for. That way I contribute as little as possible to this fucked up society and leave little to nothing behind when I go. Sort of a lazy man's version of going Galt.

That's not what going Galt means, you stupid fuckhead. A lazy man going Galt would buy a tiny farm and grow only enough food for himself to live. A less lazy man going Galt would invent a time machine in his barn and not tell anyone about it. You're participating in society, therefore you aren't going Galt.

Right there with you. All of my resources go to retiring someplace with decent soil, water, and an ability to grow most of my food.

Riiiiiight. Victim blaming as usual. It's poor people's fault they're poor. If only they would just get more money. It's jobless people's fault they're jobless. If only they would just get jobs.

You forget, as always, that voluntary exchange requires exchange between two voluntary participants. When your rich people refuse to part with any of their money voluntarily, the poor and the jobless can get nothing.

You'll get what you earn. Previous generations didn't have the luxury (but they did have a sense of dignity) of living in their parent's home for a decade because every fucking job wasn't perfect. If you wanted food in your belly, or you had to support a family, you took what work you could until you could find a job you could stay in. They couldn't sponge off their parents because they were waiting for that one very specific job to open in that one very specific urban area, but also not until that affordable place opened up that was within walking distance of that job. And if by some magic all of that happened, they still don't consider it because they're concerned that the company doesn't have an explicit gender-neutral mission statement, or they're unhappy that walking in the door they can't be compensated the same or better, or get to do the same job as that guy working there 10 years.

And don't be so down on the boomers and their stocks. It is because of that stock portfolio that you can live in their basements until that "perfect" job opens up. Remember, the reason you can't afford stuff like real estate is because you need to earn money first by getting a fucking job.
